Awesome visuals alone won`t do it.

After playing through a good chunk of TRON 2.0 I understand why it has been getting less than stellar reviews. It's a Graphics-Game pure and simple. There's none of the gameplay diversity they had in the NOLF series (Setpiece battles, mix of RPG and stealth elements, the humor, unique weaponry that's actually usefull, etc.) While I can forgive the storyline for not having much depth, I certainly wish they could have fleshed out the characters more since it seemed a lot of effort was already put into their appearance and physical demeanor.

I honestly enjoyed Elite Force 2 more. The action was intense, the storyline deeper, the settings more diverse, and it had no illusions of being any more than just that. Then again I watched every episode of Voyager so I might be in the minority here :0

I really doubt we will ever see anything ever truly be new or revolutionary anymore. Evolutionary ... maybe. We will be seeing flamethrowers, DMs etc etc etc. Let us not forget the new buzzwords for devs this year=vehicle useage.
But what will seperate the new games is more HOW they do these features in the mix. This is how they will either draw in the crowds= interest, or drive the crowds away. One thing is a for sure. Awesome visuals alone won`t do it. Every other part of the game must be as polished as the visuals. If not..... it is just a 3 dressed up as a 9.

It's pretty funny reading these comments. Things like, this looks like a generic shooter, nothing revolutionary, looks boring etc etc. There's another hyped-up FPS in the works that you could say the exact same things about, and yet that one is sure to break some sales records.

I'm not interested in either Kreed or Doom 3, myself.

The death animations are horrible. The human enemies that got hit with the shotgun hardly ever reacted to it, no sparks, blood, smoke puffs, marks or even a twitch by the blast, it looked like nothing hit them, then suddently they tip forward dead. Just looked cheap.

If you are 5 feet from someone with a shotgun and you fire, they shouldn't act like a solid rock pillar, perfectly still. Elite Force 2 even got that right.

The video quality was too low and small to get a good impression of the graphics. I think it's time everyone starts using the bink format, or anything that gives a clear true look at the game as Valve has done.

Ok, boring ass loking deathmatch. REal selling point. Heck, it might be the most amazing engine ever produced, but the maps are so dark you couldn't tell if they were.

Frankly, kreed looked like it had interesting technology a LONG time ago. Now, frankly, the ARM2 demo looks more impressive.

Sadly, I think the best part of this IS the music.

yeesh, that does look quite dull. shouldn't a movie make you want to actually play the game? i wanted to fast forward through the whole thing.

and that song was a total rip off of a rammstein song.

Addendum: this does have the potential to be a pretty cool single player game, but if they use that godawful music in the game then it's going straight back to the shop.

I can only pray they have some decent atmospheric music for the actual game score. The track on this movie is indescribably bad.

Now when I saw this trailer I wonder where all the cool gfx went.

Yes people have been saying that for a while now. At some point about a year or so ago the screenshots suddenly got really crap, and there was no longer any sign of the cool sci-fi styling and impressive lighting that we saw in early screeenshots and in the leaked tech demo. Very odd.

The game is out in Russia now, as of about a week ago I understand, but I have no idea how it has been received.

I'm still hopeful that it might have a good single player game, but I'm nowhere near as keen as I was back when they started releasing the first shots and info of what was then an amazing looking sci-fi horror shooter.

I still have every intention of buying it and giving it the benefit of the doubt though.

Dam, I feel really bad for these guys. They've been working on this for some time and probably put their heart and soul into it but it really doesn't look very good at all. Well, maybe the graphics look decent but the gameplay looks so generic without any physics model to speak of (flamethrower FX look pretty mice though) that I don't see this as anything other than a budget shooter.

When I saw the first Kreed screensots for 1-2 years ago I though it looked just as good as Doom3. Real time shadows everywhere on everything etc etc. Now when I saw this trailer I wonder where all the cool gfx went. It looks just like any other budget shooter now...

...pity.
