Freedom Fighters Gold

EA Games sends word that Freedom Fighters is the latest title to join today's flurry of gold announcements. Here's the short press release:
The squad-based action war game Freedom Fighters has gone gold and will start to ship on Tuesday, September 23 for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, Xbox video game system from Microsoft, the Nintendo GameCube, and PC.

Freedom Fighters is based on an alternate history in which the Soviet Union has won the Cold War and invaded America. You will take on the role of average New Yorker, Christopher Stone, and evolve into a fearless patriot who recruits and leads an army of freedom fighters in the streets of New York City. Players will fight through the streets of NY with seamless urban battles that take place outside as well as indoors. Because wars are not won alone, a key component of the game is the player’s ability to recruit and lead fellow New Yorkers in the battle against the Red Menace. An intuitive recruiting command system allows him to give orders to his fellow soldiers and execute critical missions at the touch of a single button.

Freedom Fighters was developed by Copenhagen-based Io Interactive and is being co-published by EA Partners under the EA GAMES brand. It is rated “T” (Teen) by the ESRB and has a US MSRP of $49.99 for PS2, Xbox and GameCube and $39.99 for PC. Additional information can be found at the EA Press web site: www.info.ea.com or www.freedomfighters.ea.com.

Hmm... I'm 28, so I'm safely above the threshold I guess I figure that given the age I was when I saw it, the dropoff probably was probably several years younger...

I'm 23 and the only people I know that have seen it are 25 or older... Kind of figured it was the bottom of the limit.

Wonder what the age cutoff is for people to have seen that movie... I know a couple people I was going to school with hadn't seen it. They were both about 21... hmmm...

Its a mindless game of running around and shooting..
I will not buy any game with that lack of depth to it. Unless it has naked chicks.

I just didn't like the fact that you couldn't remap your controls. For someone who doesn't use WASD to move, that's a big deal; I wound up dying at the second group of enemies and uninstalled it.

Is there going to be a quicksave in the final version of the game?

After being disappointed by the demo, I would say the game could be worth it at the $20 mark. Otherwise, I am staying away from this one.

And because it is published by EA, it is automaticly put in
the crap bin with all the other EA games.
