What part of 1942 is strategic? I don't see any sort of actual coordination and planning taking place.

Edit - Because I can. =)

"Can someone please explain the appeal of games like BF:1942? It seems to take 30 minutes of gameplay and about 10 weapons to come even close to the excitement of 2 minutes of gameplay in Quake 3 DM/CTF."

Depends on what you term 'excitement'. I used to love UT/Q3 styles of games. But as I got older it just gave me more of a headache. These days I prefer 50/50 percent action/strategy as opposed to UT/Q3 style of 90/10 action/strategy.

I dont know what it is but I just cant get into EoD. The mod group has done a great job all around but for some reason it just seems boring after playing DC and Secret Weps. *shrugs*

I'm downloading this via bittorrent now. Never tried EoD, so hopefully it'll be good.

Did anyone see the huge update on desertcombat.com... version .4 is out on Monday and has a bunch of new stuff. Should be good.

word on the street is the shotgun gives no damage and they aren't fixing it for a week so they can get enough bugs rounded up to release a patch

The one thing I miss from Gspy 3d is how easy it was to create filters.

for one reason, Busy Server Redial

I've been using GS3D since it was QuakeSpy, and aye, BSR and Smartspy are the two reasons I use GS3d overy anything else. Not to mention I registered for $20 almost 5 years ago and I still get free updates. Now that's dedication to a product.

Nope. No autojoin. Which I require as well.

First time playing EOD tonight. Really fun. Great maps. New skins on different maps really surprised the hell out of everyone in a good way.

About ASE... I've been using Gamespy 3D (not Arcade) for 3-4 years now, for one reason, Busy Server Redial. If you wanted to join a server but if it was full you could set it to "redial" so that as soon as a slot opened up the game would autolaunch. Last time I used ASE it didn't have anything like this, does it now, or do they plan on adding something like it?

I liked ASE, but that's the main reason I stuck with GS3D.

So just get ASE and it's a breeze to find a server to play a quick 15 minute game

About the cd-key thing, you figure they could just have their servers check all 3 cd keys when you join a game so people aren't lending out their cd's. Then that way we could have crazy servers with random maps from all 3 packs... that'd be great!

this mod got single player yet? I know that's not the fun of this game but it passes the time easier than finding a good server when you only have 15 min to play.

You know my name!!!

CD-Swap fix would be a nice thing. You'd think they could just eat the cd-copying, so long as everyone playing online had a valid CD Key, but I guess not.
