Delta Force Expansion Taps Ritual

Ritual Entertainment to Develop Delta Force Black Hawk Down: Team Sabre is the press release from NovaLogic announcing that Ritual Entertainment is the heretofore unannounced developer on the upcoming Team Sabre expansion for Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. Here's the quote from Ritual on the topic:
"When NovaLogic approached us to develop the Team Sabre expansion pack for their number one selling PC title Delta Force - Black Hawk Down, we were delighted, and eagerly accepted as we are all big fans of the title," commented Ritual Entertainment's Richard 'Levelord'™ Gray. "In Team Sabre we intend to deliver the same gripping action and intensity of Delta Force - Black Hawk Down in two potential near-future arenas: the jungles of Columbia and the oil-rich coast of Iran."

AI should be the last concern ... Sep 13, 2003, 21:33

Your real concerns should be the following:

1. Lack of a dedicated linux server.

2. Lack of decent remote administration (i.e. Q3 rcon style).

3. Lack of PunkBuster.

4. The lack of support for ASE and GSA/GS3D.

To answer your question BrushBaron, AI has to be atleast "functional" wich neither of those games have.

They run into walls blindly and kill their own teammates in situations where they obviously shouldnt, what's worse is their responsivness, have you ever played those games???

Sometimes you can go straight forward and put a fork into their dumb polygonal heads while their happily watching the sky and sometimes they can snipe you from miles away, seeing through fog or even line of sigh(trees, bushes even houses)...

Unreal Tournament and UT2 have best AI in the industry, Quake3 had good one, that's speaking of "Bot AI" usualy in SP games like HL AI is awesome but it's different from bot AI... on the same note even Counter Strike/Quake2 has "better" AI, made by modders not professionals, so sorry, but DF and BF1942 has pathetic AI, worst of it's kind.

I got a question for everyone on this AI topic. Which FPS games (not RTS or RPG, etc but ONLY FPS) has excellent AI?

In my experience, very few FPS games have great AI.

What makes an AI stand out for you and say, "WOW, that was smart of him/her." Is it if they run once you start shooting, dive for cover and pull alarms?

Hell yeah, their AI is horrendous. I've played Land Warrior and the AI is pitiful. Then my housemate got a demo of BHD off the internet and went on about how good it was going to be. It wasn't. The AI is still useless.

The engines aren't pushing any technology forward, the gameplay is samey and dull, the AI is hideous... It's just a bland game.

Damn and I thought they topped out with the orignial. DF helped flunk out of college the first time. Playing DF when your supposed to be taking mid terms is a bad idea.

Heh....all that says to me is that there were bugger all decent games released in April. BHD was hardly the ground-breaking game Novalogic hyped it up to be. They've still to learn how to code decent AI for starters...

Where have I been?

The real world. The question is "Where the hell has the PR gimp from NovaLogic been?"

It's nice that NovaLogic finally outsources for talent ... about 4 years too late, but I guess better late than never.

You know selling dlc before you patch the client doesn't impress upon me the need to support your shit. -massdev

If it's the same engine their using for Joint Operations, the jungle looks pretty damn good IMO.

Check out the JOps trailers.
