While fears have been expressed that Valve is tracking Kazaa
shenanigans and such with SpyWare (thanks Cletus),
the
last post on this Halflife2.net forum thread (thanks
Frans) clarifies that
this is an unanticipated glitch on FAT32 hard drives from software that was only
tested on NTFS systems, and no SpyWare is involved (so your Justin and Kelly
obsession will remain your secret).
