Ships Ahoy: BF1942 Secret Weapons of WWII

EA Ships Highly Anticipated PC Expansion Pack Battlefield 1942 Secret Weapons of WWII (thanks HomeLAN Fed) has word that the second add-on for DICE's World War II shooter is winging its way into stores, where it may be available as early as today. Here's a bit: "The expansion pack features powerful new vehicles and weapons rooted in World War II history and many never saw actual combat -- until now. Players can put these weapons to use in eight massive World War II combat campaigns including Peenemuende, the V2 rocket research facility, and The Eagle's Nest, Hitler's hideaway. All new battlefields offer unique settings ranging from nightfall during the summer in Prague to a winter battle in Norway."

Where the fuck is my preorder?

What shipping option did you choose? If you don't pay out the nose for shipping, you'll be waiting a few days...

Can anyone name a game that would suck with a rocket pack? I think not.

Check the BestBuy price in the weekend ad, they always have a sale on games during their first or 2nd week out.

I can't remember what I paid for RTR, but I bet it was 19.99 right when it came out.

I don't think the original or RTR ever dropped down in price since release.. by mid or late November, the deluxe pack will have been out and that will be cheaper than just buying the expansion.

Right, thats a good point.
I imagine by mid or late November the price will be nice. That's when the march for the Holiday sales begins.

I bought the Road to Rome expansion, and just really more or less paid for more of the same-- of course at the time Battlefield just totally amazed when I first played it. But my thoughts on RTR were..."Oh, neat." =} but now that mods like Desert Combat have matured more I think I will skip this expansion. Heck, these days I play Desert Combat moreso than the original retail game.

I will probably pick it up after the price drops to about 19 bucks... 30 bucks for an expansion pack seems like a bit of a rip off, IMO.

3 months ago I was very interested. After the demo was released it felt like just more of the same.
I have read the latest update has caused CD and Mod issues. Oh well. I don't have a compelling reason to buy it.
With HL2 and Call of Duty coming out soon, there is no reason to.

If you haven't seen some of the mods for Call of Duty Demo check here. Highly Modable even in demo form.

BF1942 Totally Rocks. If you have the rig and a fast connect, I couldn't see playing anything else. As soon as I discovered BF1942, Medal of Honor went on the shelf.

EBgames.com in the US doesn't show that it's shipping either.

"NO SDK = NO SALE"

Absolutley, fu*K EA right up there stupid asses. Greedy bastards don't realize that mods could make this game live for years ala Half Life. Maybe Marweas could land a PR job here. Man, the Desert Combat mod must really be a thorn in their sides.

I'll buy any game that has rocket packs in it. I wish Everquest and Dark Age of Camelot had jet packs. Every game can benefit by adding a jet pack.

Anyone seen this in stores in Canada? The place I pre-ordered from says out of stock. Usually when you preorder something that guarantees you a copy, wtf?
