Homeworld 2 Demo Tomorrow

Homeworld 2 Demo Coming Soon is the press release announcing the plan to release the demo of Relic's now-gold space-based RTS sequel tomorrow. Here's the word:
Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) announced today that, in conjunction with Relic Entertainment, it will release a sneak-peak to Homeworld(r)2, the sequel to 1999's award-winning, space-based real-time strategy game, tomorrow.

The demo will include looks at both the single- and multi-player campaigns of Homeworld 2, including the tutorial mission, two single-player missions, and two multiplayer missions, which will be playable over both LAN and the GameSpy network.

"We recognize that our community's support of Homeworld 2 is both incredibly valuable and vital to the success of this game," said Chris Mahnken, producer of Homeworld 2. "The community has been requesting a demo of the game for many months now, and we are proud to be able to deliver it to them."

The 141 MB Homeworld 2 demo will be released via the VU Games website tomorrow. The company will also make the demo available to all press and community sites that wish to host it.

While the "never bite the hand that feeds you" philosophy applies to Marweas' comment to a degree, if me and all of my buddies talked trash about your mom, and had no idea what they were talking about, you wouldn't appreciate it. He posted his comments NOT as a "PR Comment", but as a "Marweas" comment. I saw so many people posting on the forum saying "I never said anything bad about Eierra, and now I'm personally offended". Well, you know what??? HE WAS NOT TALKING TO YOU, so quit whining.

From a professional perspective, perhaps it wasn't the brightest thing to do -- but do I blame him? No, I think those forumites needed a little wake up call -- Sierra (and Relic, for that matter) is made of people -- and these people DO read forums, DO listen to what their fans have to say, and DO get offended when people talk trash about them when they have no idea how off-base the comments are.

And sometimes, emotions flare...

So if gamers think it's free territory to flame the companies that publish the games they want to play just because "the box art sucks" or "You didn't release a public external beta test", expect to hear 'feedback' about it.

I personally read back a bit before Marweas' comment to see what that thread was all about -- and I think I would have done the same thing... It was evident they had turned their back on Sierra --- so I think it's just as right that one of her son's didn't like the way they were treating his mom, so he packed up his toys and went home.
