Commandos 3 Demo

A demo of Commandos 3: Destination Berlin has been released via a magazine coverdisk. The 272 MB download features two missions, one of them a training scenario. Online mirrors can be found on 3D Gamers, Computer Games Online, FileFront, Gamer's Hell, IGN, Jucaushii.ro, Loadedinc, and Worthplaying. The 3D Gamers mirror is 31 MB smaller than the others due to the removal of the DirectX 9 distribution the original demo included.

Gah, I was shocked to see that none of the hotkeys from C2 worked in this game. I don't know why they went and changed the control/interface scheme, but the new one doesn't work too well. In addition, the train level is too friggin hard. They have constantly respawning enemies that chase you down. If this were an action game, that would be okay, but this is a Commandos game, known for its slow and methodical pace. I hope the rest of the levels don't rush the player like this one does.

Yup the controls in this game seem to be quite inferior to C2. While I like the idea of having the two slots (one for weapons, one for items), they shouldn't have gotten rid of hot keys (we especially need two to USE the weapon and item selected).

Frankly, I'm rather dissapointed by this game, especially when it doesn't show any positive gameplay evolution since the last commandos. At the very least they should have taken the action queue idea from Desperados/Robin Hood.

I love the power glove. It's so bad.

Blah nevermind, they do have that its alt now. Try this, hold ctrl or alt and use the arrow keys, works well.

I dont think there ever was a zoom, I think I remember pressing control and using the arrow keys to rotate indoors, worked pretty well, you only needed 1 good angle for a number of things.. I would maybe done it like this, hold control then drag your mouse left or right to rotate..
then leave alt to pan.

did i totally miss the option to change resolutions? I mean come on...

And while I never played c2, and it's been years since c1, the controls were deifnitely screwy. Why would mouse wheel rotate instead of zoom?

The controls are screwed man ... come on ... bring back the control scheme from C2 ... even the C1 scheme would be a blessing ...

However the game looks superb ! Cant wait to see if the retail will have better controls ...

commandos 2 was my favorite game since half life and all i can say about this is that pyro really dropped the ball on this one. in thier efforts to make the game more user friendly they COMPLETELY screwed up the controls and made this game UNPLAYABLE, i've never cursed and swore so much in my entire life as i did just playing the tutorial!! why oh why couldn't they have kept the same control scheme as commandos 2, and what happened to the shortcut keys?? nothing worse then using the green beret and pushing "a" and expecting it to be the hotkey for knife, only now it opens your "aggresive mode" so it pulls out your gun and starts shooting people.

pyro, as a loyal commandos fan i BEG you to keep the control scheme the same as commandos 2, at least have a "advanced" option that sets the same hotkeys s C2, or editiable hotkeys.

I've been waiting for so long and now the demo is finally here. I can't wait to try this one out. For the ones who think it's hard or nothing but a cussing experience. Something called quicksave and quickload, you use it a lot in the game as a Commandos veteran. Instead of cussing, you say, oh that didn't work, let me try this way instead. Once you become a pro, you shouldn't even have to save once

Hey shit! Thanks, DJPaul - I was wondering the same thing, and that worked like a charm!!

I havent played it yet, but from my prior experience I know I'll be in for a lot of random cussing and "HOW THE HELL am I gonna get by that." I actually used a pencil and paper to lay out a strat once =(

As Captain Hazle "Hank" Murphy would say... HOLY CRAP!

I am so gettin this right now and preparing myself for endless nights of mouse-hurling anger and burning eyes and repeated use of the quickload key.

This game seems really cool, can't figure certain things out though. The tutorial and help seemed lacking. What's with using inventory items? Especially enemy uniforms? I can't get this to work.

If you're behind a router, or use ICS (and you're not on the machine directly connected to the internet), you need to ensure one port - between 6881-6891 (TCP) - is open and forwarding to your machine.

Maybe I don't know how to use BT. But it's SOOOO slow for anything, I always see you guys chalking your pants over this app to download new software with. But I set my settings and was pulling it down at 15k a second =\ WHAT the hell is that? So I used an actual IE download link and now getting 50. Somebody enlighten me =(

In the original commandoes you could gather your men together and simply shoot every single guard from behind cover. Even if a whole group of 20 men came at you, your infinate ammo capacity guns would just rip though them. After every single guard was dead you just strolled around and completed the objectives
