I'm not here to bash Sims. What I don't understand is why doesn't it include every single expansion pack they have for Sims. Who cares are just two expansion packs? I actually would be somewhat interested in playing Sims with every expansion pack for $40. Otherwise, you still end up spending another $100+ for all the other expansion packs.

I wouldn't say that was exactly when it went downhill but to answer the question, probably Medal of Honor. I think before that it might have been Madden, but it was roughly the same timeframe...

This "deluxe" edition of theirs already exists. I've seen it on the shelf of my local EB a couple of times.
So either that's EB just packaging things up themselves, or EA has now gotten so stupid that they no longer have any kind of clue on what they've released already.
My money is on the latter.

"Gamers world-wide (Nasdaq: GAMR) today announced plans to ignore the latest in a seemingly never-ending stream of "ultimate" compilations of the top-selling PC franchise The Sims. This newest "ultimate compilation" contains just one third of the available expansion packs for The Sims, leading many gamers to wonder whether the marketing staff at Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) have access to a dictionary.

Ideally, since Makin' Magic is the last of the bunch, they ought to release a CD version of the Makin' Magic copy for $30, and a DVD version of the whole Sims 1 franchise for $50 or $60.
