Actually, stores DO NOT regularly get games before the date on the web. When stores get the games, they usually go up on the shelf as soon as possible. On very rare occasions, there is a street date and we can't put games on the shelf until then. Only few publishers do this (Microsoft is the only one that comes to mind). The date you see on the web is the date the game ships to stores, and there is usually a 1 day transit time. Only stores near a publsihers' warehouse will get the game same day, and that only happens if a store pays for same day shipping. So while it is true some stores will have the games on the day you see on the web, most won't have it until the following day, and usually those are your software specialty stores. So when you call up that store to ask for the game you saw released today on the web, don't be surprised when you are told it will be in tomorrow.
