Kuma: War Declared

Kuma Reality Games Targets Broadband Subscribers with New Gaming Concept is the press release unveiling plans for Kuma: War, first of the "Reality Games" from Kuma Reality Games that will feature weekly episodic content. Here's a bit from the announcement, which is accompanied by a few screenshots: "Kuma’s first gaming franchise, Kuma: War, is a subscription product that will be available through both traditional software outlets and high speed access providers upon its launch in February 2004. In each harrowing mission of Kuma: War, consumers will be briefed with real world news reporting, KH-11 satellite imagery and expansive intelligence provided by a decorated team of military veterans to truly pull gamers into missions based on real-world news. First-person tactical and vehicle-based games are updated weekly and automatically downloaded to the consumer’s computer to reflect unfolding events in the real world. Kuma will be expanding its content offerings beyond Kuma: War into other reality segments such as sports, crime and celebrity."

It's obviously a big rumsfield conspiracy. Gamers will WANT there to be condtant war so there's always new content for this game.

"What happens if there's no real 'military' news that week?"

Has there BEEN a week with no military or counter-terrorist news since the close of World War II?

just deliver a good game. Fuck off with the new concepts and buzz words et`al. Give some screens, be concise as far as featureslist, and leave it at that. LOL Reality games lol its getting as bad as reality tv now.

I think A Kuma is like a Puma but with a K.

And if it is to be based on real world events can I blow something up and see it on the six o'clock news?
When that blood rush, hair raising tingle washes over your body, I will be the cause. When fear commits itself to your every thought, I will be the reason.

I think it's a shooter where they send you butt-loads of content in frequent patches, based on what's on the news that week.

Nope, gaming is not immune from the dreck that is "Reality." I don't see myself getting very interested in this at all. Maybe that's just a personal thing though.
