ONLY if the artist was trying to fit their piece into some genre that has parameters to be followed.
This whole argument proves my point. You and I clearly experience art on different levels. When I experience art, I prefer to take it in and make my own decisions as to how I feel about it. I don't look at art and categorize it, then check to see if it measures up to the known baseline. I also look at a beautiful sunset and consider it art, albeit natural. You probably do not because it doesn't follow some textbook definition.
To each his own. This is a philosophical discussion, trying to prove either side right or wrong is futile.

He cut the possum's face off then cut around the eye socket. In the center of the belt buckle, where the possum's eye would be, he has placed a small piece of wood from his old '52 Ford's home made railroad tie bumper. Damn, he misses that truck.
