TRIBES Vengeance Movies

The TRIBES Vengeance Media Index on GameSpot and IGN's TRIBES Vengeance Media Page each now feature their own new clips from TRIBES Vengeance, showing off the upcoming installment in the shooter series, and trying to learn the answer to the musical question about what happens when two tribes clips go to war (talk about a long run for a short ride). Meanwhile, TribalWar.com has a 154 MB DivX-format movie showing off the TRIBES Vengeance press conference. Thanks Frans.

Just got finished watching the press conference movie.

The stress of this project is going to kill Marweas. All you need to do is watch his body language and slugging down those beers to tell he's wound up tighter than a spring.

He seems like a nice chap, hope he doesn't burn out.

The difference is Joe is that Valve didn't announce the game. The reason Valve was flamed was because of TF2, they made a news post about switching to a new engine for TF2 and that there would be "more details in the coming months" and then just let that community die without saying a word.

Well, big fan of Tribes 2, it was posted here that they were looking for comments and what people wanted on their official forums some time ago. I went there and read it..

"I don't get it either.
The devs are reading the TV board found here.

They make a few 1 liner comments, but in general, all feedback is dismissed as dumb, stupid, not needed, or whatever.

I never see them asking for advice, like hey fans, what do you think of this. Instead, it's their way (probably 1 person), and only their way.

Therefore, posting movies is just a tease. I don't even bother looking at them anymore. Yet, I'm a huge T2 fan, play everynight. "

"You know... doing this much PR this far in advance is gonna bite them in the ass. Valve shows them how its done, and yet they do not listen."

Huh? For the past 6 years I've seen nothing but Valve bashing for not releasing any details about their games. And how much Duke Nukem 4ever bashing have you seen? They don't release details either.

Truthfully, I was curious as to how the Unreal Engine was going to play out with this type of environment. I'm glad they've released these movies... definitely gives me hope... as opposed to being doubtful.

The TRIBES community, particulary TribalWar, is one collectively bitchy and demanding group that is difficult to please. I believe that Irrational and Sierra are releasing these videos to appease their followers, and to let them know that the game is being developed in the right direction. They've impressed me, for sure (in comparison to the previous games).

While I believe that they are releasing a awful lot of videos for only being 35% completed, I believe that their dedication to the community on this project far surpasses those attempts made with Tribes 2 (different dev team). Unless someone botches this up bigtime along the way (which I doubt), this should be a fantastic followup to Tribes 1 and 2.

Yeah, my advice would have been - Relax, don't do it.

You know... doing this much PR this far in advance is gonna bite them in the ass. Valve shows them how its done, and yet they do not listen.

Just ask EA/DICE and the whole 'SDK' issue... "Hey lets release this great game but instead of releasing a SDK we'll hold it back, that way mods have a harder time of it and the players will buy our expansion packs because no good mods will be able to be made!". Ha! I'm so glad that Desert Combat is throwing a monkey wrench into those plans.
