yeah, it's not too different, but the UI gives it a bit of needed oomph - playing the PC version of 2k3 and then a console version made me envious of my console friends - never mind there were console only features last year (madden cards, custom play design). Played it a bit more, got some of the new tackles going, those were nice, as is the replay while picking the next play (though that can distract you from the play clock...). Horse Trailer player of the game is funny, but a bit goofy. Hopefully you can see the trailer in the full game.
the biggest question is if you have to pay for multiplayer :(
Well, it's supposed to still support direct ip-ip (like 2k3 did), so it'd be a shame if you do have to pay. I note that thier site says "There is no charge for EA SPORTS online service this year, a complimentary one-year subscription is included with the purchase of Madden NFL 2004.", so that might allay some of your fears, fred.
