Out of the Blue

Talk about a near miss... there's a Worst Movie Ever Poll (thanks Philip Harris) that looks like it's part of the plan to kick off a site. Now I haven't seen either of these, but in a year when both Gigli and the American Idol Movie (currently the two lowest rated movies ever on the IMDB's bottom 100 films) were released, they should at least have included a write-in option. And what about Battlefield Earth and the Rollerball remake? Or the classic Jaws 4? The results aren't even in and I demand a recount!

Link of the Day: Operation Integration Alumicoat Phase I.
Guinness World Records. Thanks Bronco. For the super-creepy "break this record" link.
Stories of the Day: Millionaire is robbed. Thanks Jim Chaney.
Recall warns toy may leak battery acid.
Bounty hunter who caught Luster won't get any of forfeited $1 million.
Wild Science: Mini-nukes on US agenda. Thanks Big Electric Cat (a fellow Adrian Belew fan!).
WTC pollution may be linked to smaller babies.
Brainstorm to Breakthrough A Surgical Procedure Is Born (registration required).
Weird Science: Animation lets murder victims have final say.
Follow-ups: Senator Wants to Limit Patriot Act.
Word of mouse.
Thanks Mike Martinez.

IF seeing the truth makes me a stooge, I feel great about it. The Mujahadeen or "resistance" as you call it, BECAME the taliban. You need to learn history, asshole. America did not intervene because they cared one shit about a single Afghani, and proved this by abandoning the country militarily and financially after Russia pulled out. The whole point of American intervention, which by the way was the only cause of the prolonged war, was to keep Russians fighting and wasting money. The CIA gave over $3 billion in aid via the USAID, directly to the Taliban(nee mujahadeen), and on top of that, supplied arms to them. As the US prolonged the war, Afghanistan was destroyed to a level which could not have happened without US involvement. ie. Russia would have easily rolled over Afghanistan without the US... and though - OH MY GOD NO - the Russians would have had a southern port, the sedtruction of Afghanistan happened BECAUSE of the US. Read up on Osama Bin Laden, asshole, his beef is with the US and he cites the Afghan-Russian war as why he has this beef. When has Osama called out "Western Culture"? He calls for jihad upon jihad against America, and for the 17 million deaths your idiot nation has caused all over the third world since world war 2, not "We must invade and destroy shopping malls! and radio stations! and TV stations! and force their women into burkas!". The attacks on the WTC represent an attack on American Economics, and your corporate imperialism, which is right now trouncing more Arabs. Here's another thing to think about... If his problem is all about western culture, as you maintain, he must support "Islamo-Fascism" right? Saddamm and Co. are not and will never be "Islamo-Fascists", but he decries the attack on Iraq. If he has such deeply rooted idealogical beefs with the US, why would he be sympathetic to Saddam, who in the first place, was propped up by the US anyway? YOU need to study US history, and especially what your CIA did since world war 2. All of the conflicts, all of the war, all of the poor is and has all been caused by your nation, and though it is not taught in your schools, or broadcast on your tvs, it is a fact. Read some WIlliam Blum books, he is an ex-CIA officer who writes about the CIA. Rogue Nation should be a good start.

edit: Crispy, I don't mean to imply you are American, but I assume that as we (Canadians) are supposed to be taught about the Afghan russian war in School that you'd have a good idea that those attacks were not unprovoked, or meant to provoke the US. There is an eerie message in an attack on a major finiancial center (WTC) and a major army center (pentagon), especially when carrie dout by people who have been screwed by both in their lives
