I think they were disabled because they fell over, just like in the Original Half-Life

A couple things, releasing movies isn't hyping the game. Not releasing them would be creating more hype, people would be doing stupid things like releasing leaked alpha's if they didn't offer something to "whet da whistle" as it were.

Second I thought the marines shot at the bugs and also that they tried to avoid them. The bugs are very fast compared to the marines.
Which leads me to my concerns, the huge bug only had one attack animation, not a huge problem but it looked kind of repetative, the same is true of the smaller bugs however because of that animation they attacked through a table at one point, not good.

Also does anyone know if the guns were disabled because they fell over or because they were each shot 3 times, I really wish they had shot one 3 times and left it standing so I could see why it was disabled, does anyone have insight about the sentry gun physics?

I mean, if you're gong to be anal over spelling, then you should also try and use correct syntax - commas in the right spot, control units and support units joined correctly, you know?

Try to use correct syntax.

(Haha, couldn't resist.)

I'm expecting the game to be good, even though the video was crap, - lack of interactivity as metnioned before, the soldiers hardly responded to the ants- the grenade when used just appears clumsily- the graphics look just like Half-life 1, and the physics aspect wasn't really very impressive...

Sorry, but I gotta chime in for this one. A "simile" is not two unlike words joined to make one word. A simile is simply a comparrison of two unlike objects using the term "like," or any similar terms. For instance, "Half-Life 2 is like crack." A metaphor, on the other hand, is when u say something IS something else, like, "this forum is a dumping ground." Similes actually become pretty redundant, and metephores often come to signify ALL unlike comparrisons. Moreover, metanyms make things more interesting. In a metaphor, u are just comparing 2 objects, whereas with a metanym, you are saying that 1 unlike object can represent an entire category. So for instance, to say that "you are a geek because you play games" is to make the category "gamer" synonomous with all "geeks." Obviously not all gamers are geeks, and not all geeks play games, so metanyms are usually overstatements.

Anyway, i think you guys should leave the semiotics alone

"Danny Boy!"

Once again you have made a case of ignorance for yourself.
Simile, is when you take two words that don't mean the same and put them together as a word...

you know? like M-E-T-A-P-H-O-R? You have a long ways to go man.. ha ha ha ha.

You can't win with me Dude, matter a fact Blue just posted a new item that states ATI has said HL2 will definetly be arriving on the shelf by Sept 12, 2003. But Valve will not support it with comments. I'd sat that about plays intot he role of modesty. ;p

I still think releasing an assload of movies is still Valve hyping their game. I believe the frequency of them being released would allow me to say that they are over-hyping it. I don't see the flaw in that. Over-hyping can be good or bad but usually it's bad because it raises expectations higher than what the company can deliver. We'll see in the coming months if it will deliver. I doubt it will but it won't stop me from playing it a bit.

Geez Dan,

I particulary left a few errors in my sentences to let you know I'm not perfect. Only that a point needed to be made.

As for the GOT-DAMNED... it's for simile.

OH, another thing Dantastic. I can spell perfectly fine. I figure why should I go out of my way trying to make syntax a big deal when I run into buffons like you that will argue a case on complete lack of information. I hope by now you've investigated your flaw in presumtions about Valve?

And 'Soupkin'... you do have AIDS you "NERD!" If I'm on this board commenting and so are you. Then I think that about makes us equal.

I don't take much insult to being called an idiot by someone who makes up words and has about one spelling mistake per sentence. Good work on going back and correcting some silly mistakes though. I usually don't go and point out people's spelling errors but when someone is attacking me on a forum and calling me an idiot and the guy can hardly spell correctly I think that it is fair game. It just seems really hypocritical to me.

I don't understand why so many people in this forum bag people for incorrect spelling. As if most of us aren't using a bastardized, lower-class version of the english language anyway. I mean, if you're gong to be anal over spelling, then you should also try and use correct syntax - commas in the right spot, control units and support units joined correctly, you know? Shit, even full stops and capital letters are required if you're going to be an English zaealot. But instead we get responses like "why dont u use a spell checker you moron" No capitals, full stops or apostrophes ... just plain hopeless really.

English is a lot more complex than a lot of you would think...i spent 4 years doing a degree where my english tutors made me look like an idiot on a regular basis, just for doing little things like not having a space before and after an ellipsis. Obviously we are here to talk about games, not semiotics so, if you wanna be clever - go do a degree and act like a smart ass there. No one cares here.

B.T.W. I'm not sure there is a verb for flatulence. Just the adjective "flatulent," or the adverb "flatulently"...but i don't think there is a verb for it, like "flatulating." Doesn't matter though, anyone with half a brain knew that you were saying he talks out of his ass.
