Half-Life 2 Delayed

Half-Life 2 delayed on GameSpot (thanks Boomtown) has word that Valve's shooter sequel will not make its planned release date. Here's the deal:
Today we received word from the game's publisher, Vivendi Universal, that Half-Life 2's release has been delayed until later this year. Without commenting on the delay, a Vivendi Universal representative reaffirmed that the game would ship this year, sometime during the holiday season.

While I had hoped it would come out on September 30th, this isn't surprising. However, it does piss me off because there is almost NOTHING to play until much later in the year. *SIGH* I'm bored out of my mind.

Go figure. Lol, I voted on PlanetHalflife.com that it wouldn't ship on time earlier today. Funny that all the HL2Fan boys over there expected to ship on time.

I don't believe it until Valve says so. They seemed very confident in their release date, so I doubt that they were forced to change it..

I had a bad feeling about the release date. Never trust it until it that close to finish.

I wonder if we will get a demo to test.

Hopefully Valve will use this delay to raise polycounts and improve texture quality.

Valve employee #1: Did you hear about DOOM 3?
Valve employee #2: No... what? They didn't release a demo, did they?
Valve employee #1: Nope, they delayed it until next year.
Valve employee #2: Oh, thank God... now we don't have to kill ourselves to beat them to the market.
Vivendi Exec: Hey there, now, skippy... don't get too comfortable... if you miss the holiday season, you'll be waxing my favorite yacht all next summer.

...

Valve employee #1: {whispering} Dude... that's not cool... I think "favorite yacht" is slang for something else...

Probably delayed so that Steam will be up to snuff.

Either that or implementing AA in the engine before it ships rather then after.

Mark my words, this thread is gonna hit 150 or more.

(Hmmm .... may be I should fan the flames a bit)

This is in serious need of a penny-arcade.com cartoon, although the yacht one was pretty close.

Nvidia must think they have a fix for the anomilies and then need more time to rig there newest drvivers to not filter as much so fps will be faster for HL/2

I need to hear this from Gabe or some other Valve representative before I will believe it 100%. It will probably end up being true. However, the people at Valve seemed rather certain that they would meet their release date. Pretty dumb of them to keep that secret for what 4-5 years and blow it by a couple of months?

Anyway...I had to wait until next year to upgrade my gaming rig anyway. Now I won't have to suffer through anything less than the best graphic settings for two must haves.

this is a french company delaying products probably as a direct result of our foolish boycott of french goods and services from the gulf war. when you hide behind ht eamerican flag then you cry when you dont get your game. you dont care when innocent iraqis are killed as long as american boy has their violent videogames on time its absurd

fly boy i will save you
