Dear Diary

Far Cry: E3 to Alpha on PC.IGN.Com offers thoughts from Crytek's Christopher Natsuume on the E3 reception Far Cry met with (even as the show fades in the rear-view mirror), going on to describe the push that's been made since then to get the upcoming first-person shooter into the alpha (playable) stage. He's only allowed to go so much into specifics about the game, but he can offer general indications about the complexities involved in the project: "But, as the both the vehicles and the AI are systematic, even small changes to them make changes across all the levels - so this has been a lot of work for the team. With the vehicles, since they are modelled on real physics, changing the weight of anything - from the players to the boxes they hit to the weight of the mercenaries makes a real difference. It is the cost of reality."

Yes, "fanboyism" could be a good way to describe whatever the hell that post was... but it seems to be more. This person is angered by STALKER or something. Why the sudden outburst about STALKER anyway?

"already paling in comparison to HL2 and Doom 3" and "run and gun gameplay"

Say what? STALKER is supposed to be completely different from those two games. But still, why the sudden outburst?

No idea.

with standard run and gun gameplay

Actually, Stalker is supposed to have very open-ended gameplay similar to Morrowind. Very free-form rather than 'follow this hallway to advance to the next level'. I will play and enjoy each game instead of limiting myself to one specific game.

So play them all! Damn, don't discriminate, who cares if one has more shortcomings than the other, they all should be great...just not as good as HALO PC...

The editor for farcry looks like a blast to work with.
I'm looking forward to this one as well as Stalker, Doom 3, and HL2.
What I'm not loking forward to is the pending hole in my wallet from the upgrades I'm gonna need.

I'm new to the whole forum thing, so bear with me a moment - but post 4 would go down as fanboyism, would it not?

On a related note: I'm looking forward to both Stalker and Far Cry. I think they're titles which share some common points (they're both indevelopment by new game houses and with unique technologies), but I think they're games that aim at different ends of the FPS spectrum.

This game will be so much better than STALKER

Why the hype about stalker anyway? Good graphics (already paling in comparison to HL2 and Doom 3) with standard run and gun gameplay.

Far Cry's emphasis on AI will make it slap STALKER
