Out of the Blue

One of today's flood of spam in my inbox offers the opportunity to have my own "As Seen on TV" store. This inspired my latest get-rich-quick scheme... Have your own "As Seen in Your Inbox" store. You know, shelves filled with EZ Credit Repair, Generic ½-off V1agra, get rich on eBay CDs, credit repair, whatsis enlargement, and the like. There's no question all that stuff has its appeal, but sometimes you need to see something in-person before you can decide to go the whole route. There could even be a financial section where you could sit down and interview Nigerians who are looking to smuggle huge sums out of their country using your bank account.

Of course you're right... This would have to be server-side. Damn. Oh well, Freddie gets to stay I guess. I just found it kind of strange that Blue would actually take the time to sort through the boards and delete individual posts, surely there had to be a better way.

But anyway, I get to be right about ONE thing today:

'C r i s p y', I'm well aware of what's being mulled over... thank you very much: "to fredster or not to fredster"

And what engine do you suppose Blue use? As if the Bluesnews server isn't already busy enough doing archival lookups and keeping track of just our daily shared access.

If everyone's profile did filtering from the host server, I can see a DB timebomb waiting. Not to mention a system upgrade which I'm sure someone would have to pay for. This site would chug like a derailed caboose.

What some view as an inconvenience... others could care less.

So.. the question is do we censor or not? That was and still is my original metaphor. I'm sure if Blue is tired of someones activity he'd delete himself. I've seen him do it before.

Blue is obviously getting a kick out of it. As am I. I don't know this "Fred walking dead fella" and I just ignor anything he says as long as it's not offensive.

I'll go back to my Black Russian now if you don't mind.

P.S. I forgot to mention.. how could this be a client side function when the data is maintained on Blues server and all changes need to written at the Server side? it's not like you have a persistent connection... even if you did it wouldn't matter. "HICK UP!"

well if that's the case who's board would it be?

Yours? maybe you should leave desicions like that up to the curator.

Dude, you misunderstand. Have another White Russian and try to relax.

The user mute feature we're asking for is strictly a client-side implementation. It would allow you (or me) to filter out messages from certain users to stop them being displayed on our end only. That way each person has the choice of whether or not they wish to see posts from a particular user. It's by far the most equitable solution for everyone.

BUE WHERE IS MY LINK I DESERVE BETAR TREATMET

Maybe you should try submitting the link to him again, as well as a direct bablefish link translating it into English. And you should e-mail it to him. But, use correct spelling, and grammar. It does not have to be perfect grammar. Just do not make everything one sentence, use punctuation, and capitalization!

And then wait a bit. He might not want to post that just anywhere, he might then decide to save it for a sorta weekly left-overs column. But annoying the hell out of him to get it posted is not going to work. Hell, I sent him a link that I thought would be very interesting to the people that visit here, but he never posted, but post some of the other wacky stuff! But you do not see me whining about it? (ohh, so I am now, but only to prove a point)

Forget the Who Is The Fredster?
The real question is,
Who is the Drizzle?!
If you know the answer, please e-mail me szsullivan@ualr.edu and win a prize! for real

I guess all that leaves is to track him down and kill him. Oh well.

and if he flushed his cookies? wouldent he then see that he is not being represented?

Ah, yes. If he tossed his cookies, the jig would be up. I forgot for a second that you only need to log in to POST messages, not to READ them. Drat.

I guess all that leaves is to track him down and kill him. Oh well.

*EDIT* I agree with Scott; allowing us to mute users ourselves would also be an effective solution.

Bloodwolf and Blue. The answer is........................

R-A-M.

Most system problems nowadays beit "Real Mode" or "GUI" are dependant upon how apps handle extended memory and what memory addresses it can get access to.

I know? believe me. I work with some of the most unique system designs in town.

I dare not shed any more intellegence due to a lack of good judgement typically exihibited from 'JediLuke' constant need to chastize me and figure out what I do for a living... I told the ole chap I was uneducated and jobless. HA HA HA HA

Trade secrets have a dollar value associated with said infomation. But, 'Blue' and 'Bloodwolf' I'll make an exception and discuss it for free

take care
