This game really is great. Ironically, I spent several hours over the last couple weeks searching for a good online racing sim, and didn't come up with a single hit for LFS.
Then I give up and the next thing I know Blue's is telling me where to look.

S1 is awesome!! So easily worth the $15 it's ridiculous...
The graphics are a little rough (could use a high powered gfx card which can do some nice anti-aliasing) but they have been improving. The South City track is especially nice - so much detail! I thought it was pretty immersive as I was racing around.
Another cool thing new in the S1 release is the drag feature.. two dedicated drag strips, one with up to 8 players, and coordinated start/finish for dragging. Lots of fun, especially with a clutch and shifter, which LFS supports perfectly, unlike MOST other racing games out there that completely SUCK at controller support! (I'm not bitter or anything... nah...)

ok I've read a lot of bad things about you Fred, but hey
you're right. this game is pretty cool. I've been playing their beta releases for a long, long time. their focus is on the feel of the game, not the look, altho they've definitely started to pull in the slack on that matter. the cars look pretty decent (it's mostly the poor texturing that makes them look bad; they have INSANE polycounts), the shadows from the cars are amazing...the landscaping isn't all that great, but it mostly suffers from detail popup, it looks worse in motion than in screenies, oddly enough.
