Personally I think it's highly addictive although the looks are subpar, and the controls horrid. I also experienced some extremely annoying technical glitches but no-one else mentioned them so it's probably just me.

Oh well, so much for that one. Played it for a while now. For some reason, it just wasn't that much fun. From the menus which are poorly layed out and feel like they're under water or in slo-mo or something, to the controls which aren't that great on my Microsoft Sidewinder Pro Joypad, to the fact that if I have all the niceties turned on the game just hangs, and throw in the annoying AI that fights with you for 9th place (leave me alone buddy, we're both losing badly here), to the intagible wierd feel of a Console game on a PC, it's just not really working for me. At this point, I'm glad I didn't buy it. I'll probably run through the demo a couple more times to see it I grow to like it. But right now, it's only a "eh".

I've been looking forward to this since I enjoyed the PS2 version at my bro's house so much. But you guys have tempered my expectations a little, which is good. There's nothing worse than getting your hopes up and then seeing them dashed.

After FPS's, I love good racing games, arcadey or simulation, doesn't matter to me. So far, nothing has yet beat Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed for me, and I'm psyched to think this game might be it. I still wish you could play 2 people on one computer with a split screen though. My friends aren't too in playing games on the PC, so it'll be kind of hard to recreate the magic that is sitting around racing each other in the same room. We'll see though, we'll see...

I agree the keyboard steering sucks... I was hoping it would be more like GTA:3/VC. Having a gamepad is the way to go. The menu blows too but overall I am really digging the full game.

Most racing games (or at least the NFS ones I've played) are like this, and if you use the keyboard, you either have to tap the key over and over to make corrections, or hold it and then let go while hitting the break to do a slide turn.

Actually, most racing games have a keyboard sensitivity setting, where you can adjust the rate at which the "wheel turns" when you hold the key down. That MC2 doesn't have this is its single biggest flaw. Extremely fast, twitchy cars and "digital" steering is a lousy mix.

So I jumped on an 8 player game last night which I did horribly at. The biggest problem is the steering... maybe I'm doing something wrong. Whenever I hit the left or right arrow, it's as if I'm yanking the wheel to it's extreme to the left and every turn almost sends me into a tail spin. It feels like there should be a more mild setting for keyboard users.

You're using a digital input (the key can only be "on" or "off") for an analogue device (steering). Most racing games (or at least the NFS ones I've played) are like this, and if you use the keyboard, you either have to tap the key over and over to make corrections, or hold it and then let go while hitting the break to do a slide turn.

i think the PC lacks a decent, fast and furious multiplayer driving game.
come on software companies, stop churning out fps variants and go wild with some decent driving/flight games.

that right side display rises as you draft other cars. When it turns red, you hit the nitrous button and go real fast.

Anyone know what that vertical guage on the right side indicates? It makes a whirly sound as it rises and then turns red.

I picked this one up simply because I liked the driving in GTA3 so much.
Anyway, I'm kinda disappointed. The controls and physics feel very arcady and simplistic (yes, even more than GTA3), and the framerate flucuates a lot.
Honestly I only played it for about 10 minutes before I quit out. Maybe someday I'll try it again, but it didn't make a good first impression.
