Out of the Blue

I had to replace Hudson the wonder dog's frisbee yesterday, a fairly frequent occurrence, since the little beastie has a tendency to destroy them in fairly short order. This would be an even more common event if we actually used a FrisbeeĀ®-brand frisbee (to simultaneously use the generic and brand-name versions of the term), as her imposing mouthful of teeth immediately creates holes and brail bumps in those. Instead we get the doggie-friendly type, which are flexible nylon dealies, and yesterday was the first time I noticed the brand name on the box. These are called floppy disks, which strikes me as funny, because it doesn't look like too much longer before these will be more common than their computer namesakes (if that's not the case not already), and of course, this is the perfect favorite toy for a geek's dog, especially for one like Hudson, who has such a strong floppy drive.

What bugs me is all the resource gathering... I haven't been able to figure out how to create worker units, so I have to keep having my character go to work, come home, go to work, come home... And once he gets a little money saved up, something invariably breaks and he has to spend it on that.

Truth be told, though, I think Will Wright has a gem of a lawsuit here. I mean, it's an obvious rip-off of "The Sims".
