Actually, ATI is the well known industry giant of the two. So: ATI - NVIDIA, Intel - AMD, Microsoft - Linux.

i did find the ppl in this thread stating something like "yay gamex and gamey finally work" and "gamez works now!" pretty funny.. i never have to sit around and wait for new drivers to come out to fix a game.. that's ridiculous

What really pisses me off with comments like this is STUPID people actaully think that Nvidia never has driver problems.. Uh yeah.. thats why they leak beta drivers non stop...

Shows that you don't have followed the nvidia driver developpement the last few months. nvidia released two WHQLed driver sets in the last three weeks! There also have been two "beta" leaks but ATI still needs to reach the compatiblity and stability of a nvidia beta release!

I've got a brand new 5900 Ultra and I have yet to find a game which has bugs with any of the 5900 drivers (in old as also new, popular games).

Yes, there have been rare driver bugs in the past which only happened to a few users and which had been fixed in the next driver revision but a situation like it is currently happening at rage3d.net (new driver release, wait a few hours and the official thread is 15 pages long, full of bugs reports), has yet to be experience with ANY nvidia driver release.

Doom3 for example works with ALL nvidia drivers (even driver dating before 4x.xx). Does ATI has fixed the D3 issues in the latest 3.6? I guess not... ok, doom3 is still not released but this says a lot about ATI industry leading drivers. Whatever!

The reason for new nvidia beta leaks is not bugfixes, but to add new features and improve performance (yes, the 44.67 do improve performance without degrading IQ, in fact the 44.67 offer one of the best IQ to date)

I'm an ATI fan, but I do claim that nvidia has better support, drivers and compatibility.
You don't hear people complaining about glitchy problems with they're GeForce cards (well, I didn't have problems)

Wow, in my many years of computer experience, an issue with a new game crashing, or anything like that, usually is a result of old drivers or some sort, whether it be the mobo drivers, video, sound, etc. sticking to old drivers isn't a good idea, its like refusing new technology. There is no damage to be done in having the latest drivers, thats the number one thing i always check when I have a problem with my comp. I've never heard that something isn't working because your drivers are too new as far as games go. oh well... you're missing out on a lot of new drivers that provide a performance increase for your hardware...

nVidia does the exact same thing at yeah its hella lame. Fortunately someone here pointed me to a website for hacked drivers for my GeForce2 Go...otherwise I would still be stuck with the same 16.20 version that were released with my Gateway that have NEVER changed or been updated in a year and a half now...

There is actually a little app released that Mods *all* Catalyst drivers to work on mobility chips. I always have the latest and greatest on my Dell with a Radeon Mobility. Just did the Cat 3.6 released today. The little app can be downloaded from Rage3d.

They fix problems with UT2003 and NWN? This is why I haven't bought a ATI card.

Thats what happens when people DONT READ.. they just comment on the one liners.. It fixes a coupple rare and odd problems with those games on Radeon 7000 cards. OLD OLD OLD stuff.

I have a 9700pro and 8500 and have not experience any real problems for a couple years. All these drivers do for people like me is increase performance.

I never install new drivers unless they address problems that i currenly have, or have some kind of serious performance increase (which is very rare). I've learned that lesson after installing new drivers and being surprised when a current game (or games) that I'm playing doesn't work due to the new drivers. :-) (yea yea, just roll back to the old ones.... ah screw that)

Mobility 9600 mmmmm.

Alienware's laptop is nice, but runs very hot. I've got a Toshiba Satellite that's very nice and have had no problems playing various games on it.

#15 I hear Alienwares gaming laptop is excellent. If anyone can make one properly its them.
