Jet packs were fun in Tribes. I'm not sure if I'd like them in UT though. I do like the quad-jump mutator. Being able to get that much hang-time and pull off some neat tricks is a lot of fun

well at the end of the article, it says that there will be a rebate for UT2003 owners. (hopefully not requiring something I tossed in the trash) Which is decent. I paid like $32 for the first one, and enjoyed it for lan parties. However, even liking it, I doubt I'd put down more than $25 for what is basically an expansion.

Yeah, that would have been soo much better if I had called him that in my rant. Darn, missed opportunity.

Unreal Tournament 2003 did something new for an FPS game. Instead of releasing repetitive bonus packs and patches, the developers determined that the game's engine and gameplay were versatile enough to handle several renditions, so they decided to follow the sports game trend of adding the year to the end of the game's title. So, in theory, if UT2003 sold well, we'd be seeing another one just a year down the road.

How any serious game journalist or gamer for that matter can put a positive spin on the shameless re-peddleing of content that SHOULD have been 1) included in the initial release, or; 2) released as a free download, or; 3) the very least sold as an expansion pack, is beyond me. This kind of kiss-ass previewing makes me want to vomit on your shoes, Russell. Do you really think that Epic was the first company to come up with the idea of repackaging worn content and worn ideas as "new" products? No. But all of those other companies realized that in the long run people would just stop buying their games if they did.

I wish 2K4 was more of a return to UT style gameplay instead of 2K3 + vehicles, but I know that won't happen :\

I'm just wishing for a UT2kx game that is more like UT. I liked the game speed then, and the weapons were fine, if a bit bizarre. I spent many a LAN playing UT CTF, and I think if they worked on a game like that, I'd buy it.

As it is, I tried the demo for 2k3, and decided it wasn't for me. Theres one less sale right there, for both games.

That would be a high motivating factor for my opinion. I did end up getting UT2K3, but I payed ZERO for it, but I would have paid $20 for it, like I had said. Is it fun? It really is almost identical to the original UT with better graphics and one less VERY fun Mod. I did like the original UT, so yes, I do like UT2K3, but I think the consumer is getting super screwed which is why I hope it bombs.

Well atleast it'll own the living fuck outta Halo and the sequel(with cardbox levels and rollercoast like gameplay).

Now, if only they would replace all the weapons, they would be on to something here. UT2003 weapons blow.

I like the jet pack idea. It was the best part of Tribes, and it would be cool it UT.
