More Game Movies - Half-Life 2

As promised (below), a Half-Life 2 movie has been released via Valve's Steam broadband delivery service (a clip that was seen in lower resolution at this year's E3). The flick shows off the G-Man's transformation from his old "we thought this looked cool before we knew better" self, to his new school cutting edge accelerator-friendly version. The movie is 69 MB, and in addition to the Steam distribution, Bink-format mirrors have been provided by 3D Downloads, 3D Gamers, FilePlanet (registration required), FileShack (registration required), GameTab, Loadedinc (registration required), and Worthplaying. Also, four new Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movies are available on FilePlanet (registration required) showing off the next installment in the acrobatic prince's adventures. There's a Counter-Attack Movie, a Fight Movie, a Flag Physics Movie, and an Environment Movie.

The HL netcode is not better. It's simply that it's client side netcode unlike Unreal with it's server side netcode.

IMO, client side netcode sucks.
ie: You've just had an encounter with an ennemy, you fall back behind cover;
(client side netcode) His ping is high, so you are not behind cover from him and he shoots you. You get hit even if you should be safe.
(server side netcode) His ping is high, but even if he try to shot you, he won't hit you because you are behind cover.

Of course, there's also the part where you want to shoot someone and if your ping is high, then you'll have to wait untill the server tell the client that his shot has been registered before it actually happens. Client side netcode == lose for anything that should be realistic. Server side netcode == sucks for anyone with a bad internet connection.

I pay for broadband and I don't want to have someone on 56k ruins my game, thus I prefer the Unreal engine.

The worst case of client side netcode I've seen was in planetside where I could have been behind cover for a few seconds, but I was still getting shot.
