concerning source vs. ut2k3, I think the biggest thing that we'll have to wait for release on, is the quality of the netcode. Right now the netcode in CS is probably better than any other game. You fire the weapon and you just have this solid feeling in your head that you'll hit what you aim at. With the other engines it feels generally softer which doesn't help you suspend disbelief. As a guy who's been running game servers for a long time, I really don't like the unreal netcode. Sure it's gotten better, but with raven shield, ut2k3, and america's army, it's still not as good as CS in terms of how good it feels. On a positive note, valve had years to perfect the code, so maybe unreal will get better over time. If we're lucky though, the netcode in HL2 will be the same as in CS but just more efficient.
