Gathering Announces Vietcong Fist Alpha For PC
is the press release announcing plans for an expansion pack for Vietcong,
Illusion Softworks' Vietnam War shooter. Word on the add-on is that it is due in
September, and here is how it is described: "Placing you in the highlands
of Vietnam, Vietcong Fist Alpha brings 7 brand new single player missions as
well as 8 new multi-player maps to expand that jungle experience of Vietnam in
1967." No word is offered on who is developing the expansion.

I personally liked Vietcong, but that amount of content wouldn't justify $20+ even if it was game of the century.

7 single player missions? Are they kidding? Unless they're selling this expansion for a maximum of 5 bucks, no thanks.
I'd never even consider an FPS expansion without at least 20 SP missions.

I think when they say 7 missions, they mean 7 missions that are spread out over multiple maps. Kinda like how MoH had 6 missions spread across 24 maps.
Yeah, I'll probably be waiting for reviews first, but I'm still optimistic; some of those missions in VC were bloody long!

This might seem unusual, but playing Vietcong gave me the best action hero experience since Hitman 2 (Doesn't beat Max Payne of course.) By action hero I mean not just the wanton destruction, but doing it in style.
The firefights in those ancient ruins were most memorable. I ran out of primary ammo near the finale, so leaning out of corners and popping bad guys with a mere pistol simply to scrounge for more ammo became my forte. The thing was, they were doing the same moves, and there was no quicksave.
I just hope to God they get the voice acting for the main character right this time.
