Shadowlands is already looking like a phenomenal new set of gameplay dynamics and publicly released screen shots show an incredible and deep improvement in graphics.

It is good to see Funcom is not letting themselves be rushed along too much by Star Wars Galaxies recent release. Great plan, take your time, do it right and polish it!

Woth downloading the 1GB+ beta from Fileplanet if you're not a MMORPGer? I saw it there and considered getting it but I don't know if it's my thing.

Cheers,

AO's expansion should be called "resurection". i can't think of one previous story in the gaming community similar to AO. it was easily the worst game launch i've ever witnessed and over the past year it has become the standard bearer for customer service and stability.

it's funny how there are tons of looking glassesque stories of games or devs that failed even though the game itself was amazing. it's wild that this one was a game that was absolute trash and became something pretty cool.

It's quite remarkable and commendable to see what they've done to this game. I'm in an AO "comeback-kick" now, and I honestly have to say that I'm being sucked in. DAoC and AC2 couldn't do it for me -- this can, and even though I preordered Shadowlands yesterday, my thoughts are -- hey, if you actually release it when it's finished, you'll have more people stick around longer rather than feel that they've been ripped off to play an unfinished beta.

I didn't really see anything new. I downloaded the fileplanet beta and jumped back in for a few hours. It's still AO. If you currently play AO and like it you'll probably like Shadowland. If you didn't really care for AO and wonder if Shadowlands 'turns it all around' - no.

it still has the core AO game in it, for sure, but I don't believe you're going to access the full content of the expansion pack in 5 hours.

But I'd agree with your sentiment that if you like it now, you'll like it. I just don't think its fair to say that it's not going to turn the game dynamic around. There was so much turned around with the first "booster pack" that I'd be surprised if this didn't change a lot of the gameplay.

...since beta 3. Love every minute of it

AO got me with its PvP. While its not balanced and there are troubles with lag issues, its still more fun then PvP in any other RPG I've ever played.
