On The Galaxies Launch

Quiet Birth for Star Wars World is a Wired article discussing what they seem to feel is a low-key launch for this MMORPG (thanks Mike Martinez). Meanwhile, there are other ways of describing the game's birth as quiet, as problems folks have been having with sign-ups are detailed in a forum post by LucasArts' Kevin O'Hara (thanks HomeLAN Fed). There is also an announcement about this from Raph Koster saying Launch day will not count against your subscription (we can also get a wry update on the topic from The Iraqi Information Minister - thanks Hump). Finally, the intro movie for the Star Wars MMOG has been released, and is available for download from FilePlanet (registration required), FileShack (registration required), Gamer's Hell and Worthplaying.

Pigface is ok... Martin Atkins is really cool but the music is a little too experimental for my tastes. I only own one of their albums, Gub... and that's only because Trent Reznor is on it.

If you like those Vancouver bands you should also check out Loverboy

I have all of the SP CD's, though I must admit I never liked KMFDM as much as I liked SP. Though it's been a long time since I've listened to any of it. Those were the days!

If you like that you'd also like Pigface. Also if you want some grindcore/noise try out Godflesh.

"I pretty much hated Shadowbane, though: not as much as AO, of course."
I'm probably ripping someone off by saying 'a challenge this big is not meant for everyone'
AO was deep hurting. I've got some great screenshots from being trapped behind invisible walls (wooo SUDs!), and another of my character equipping a bow that still had the default model / texture (pink cube, blue writing "default mesh" - was almost the size of my martial artist).

"Sloppy coding after 4 years of development = cancelling my account."
Huh, really? Gosh, you must cancel a lot of accounts. I can't think of a mainstream game yet that didn't have these sorts of problems. Guess you were never a Half-life / Quake 3 player either

"Not jumping onto Galaxies, either, though."
...yeah, i skipped it for now, and i was a raving looney in beta. luckily, i've got this big project at work and i've managed to stay strong in the face of wookie entertainers. next month, maybe... we'll see.

broken-- I can see how the process would be considered the definitive puppy album...I like it a lot. Although, Rabies is my favorite. No, I haven't heard of Haujobb. I did a search on them and I see that they are compared to :-wumpscut-: I will have to check'em out.

"Vincent Murphy,
Wow, way to troll for two games at once. Nice one! "

Thanks! I've been practicing! I pretty much hated Shadowbane, though: not as much as AO, of course. But I think once you open the game to player vs player the way SB has, there should be absolutely no reason for anyone to yell 'grief!'

My main problem with SB is that it didn't take long for someone to abuse the client. Sloppy coding after 4 years of development = cancelling my account.

Not jumping onto Galaxies, either, though. I'll wait for the paying beta testers to work out the bugs.

Funny that all of this sprang out of one guy saying Industrial music sucks.

Just discovered skinny puppy! Damn, you must be young or I am old.

18, I only got into industrial music two years ago so I'm still discovering new bands all the time. I donno about liking SP and KMFDM equally though. I just don't find KMFDM to be as creative or as downright cool. Still like KMFDM quite a bit but they just don't sound as awesome as they did before I bought Last Rights.

Oghr's new album comes out next week? Man, time flies, it seems like yesterday that is was still months and months out... And I still haven't even gotten around to picking up Front242's new one yet.

HEADHUNTER! Front 242 is just plain awesome! Best Industrial band ever.

Vincent Murphy,
Wow, way to troll for two games at once. Nice one!

I play Shadowbane because I was sick to death of the insanely stupid rules most MOGs force on you. Play Nice Policy? Get outta my camp before I send you back to your bind point Got a problem with the way somebody's acting? Great, pull steel and have at you. Want revenge? Grab a tracker, do some hunting.

One day, many moons ago, I was trying to level a newbie troll in Innothule Swamp (back before those F*ING FROGS). Unfortunately, some halfling prick was camping MY guards - so any time I need to de-train a line of froggies, I was screwed.

I asked him to stop. His response? "stfu n00b". My response? I trained a line of guards on him while he was meditating. I took a screenshot of his corpse, and still have it to this day. And a GM had the balls to say *I* was griefing *HIM*. Pfft.

Oh! I almost forgot - THERE ARE NO GNOMES OR HALFLINGS IN SB! WHEEEE! ...sadly, no trolls either =/
