Matrix Game Sequel Plans

Atari Hints at New Matrix Game News on Game Power Australia (thanks Tiscali Games) has "off the record" information "that a new Matrix game is currently in development, and is expected to tie in with the release of The Matrix Revolutions, scheduled to release later this year." Meanwhile, Computer and Video Games (thanks Frans) goes from rumor mongering to rumor debunking, shedding light on the situation with this:
Indeed, reports on the Internet, originating in Australia, claim that Atari will be releasing a follow-up in late 2003. But, with Enter the Matrix only recently out, wouldn't that really be just a little too soon?

That's certainly the case as far as Atari UK is concerned, a spokesperson confirming with us today that Enter the Matrix developer Shiny Entertainment "will be doing another Matrix game" but added that it's not due for release until "around Christmas 2004".
They also go on to say that a third Matrix game is planned for "around 2006" to be developed by Shiny, creators of the Enter the Matrix game.

[ETM] How to fix Focus and Battle lag :: Great Solutions
**This thread was created for people who have the following problems:

- Extemely low FPS in focus mode
- Extemely low FPS in heavy combat (Multiple enemies)

And have a similiar system setup:

- Motherboard featuring Via KT333 chipset
- Sound Blaster! Audigy or Audigy II
- Nvidia GPU

Part One :: Focus Lag Solution (If you don't experience this, go to step two)

- Go into the Enter the Matrix installation folder and look for a file called "MatrixConfig".
- An easier way of doing it is to use whatever version of Windows you have by using the "Search files and folders" feature.
- And in the search, simply type "MatrixConfig".
- It will find one file, open it with a text editor ( I used notepad ).
- Go down almost to the bottom and find the text that says this:

;Please turn to 1 if you experience graphical corruption during Focus moves
ALTERNATEFOCUS=0
FULLSCREEN=1
WBUFFER=0

Change the value:
ALTERNATEFOCUS=0 to ALTERNATEFOCUS=1

Make sure you save the document and exit.

Part Two :: Multiple Enemy Lag Solution (If you do not experience, go to step three)

- If you have battle lag (While fighting multiple enemies, your FPS drops dratically) then this is what you want.
- Press your Start button on windows and click on "RUN".
- In the command prompt, type "dxdiag" with no without quotations.
- The DirectX Diagnostic tool (Dxdiag) will open.
- Above you will see a list of tabs, click the tab labeled "Sound".
- Look for a slider labeled "Hardware sound acceleration level".
- Drag the slider over until you find the setting of "Basic Acceleration" and make sure it's not "Standard, None, or Full".
- Close Dxdiag and launch the Enter the Matrix setup screen where you select video options.

Part Three :: Game Setup (Performance)

- Set your texture filter to "Bilinear".
- Turn *off* all of the following; Force Object LOD, Allow Gamma, W-Buffer(dither), Shadows
- Turn off Anti-Aliasing and then make sure the rest is all at its default value.

Finally (and most obvious), make sure you are using the latest drivers for all your hardware.

Hope this guide works as well as it did for you as it did for me.

I just saw the Matrix RELOADED, did anyone else feel:

-There were too many speeches

-The fight scenes went on too long at times

-The 'American Bandstand' scene in Zion was dumb

-The sex scene w/ Neo and Trinity was unnecessary, I mean they like each other, we get that. We got that in the first movie, message received.

And what happened to Tank? Who's this Link dude? Sorry but when he opened the door to his "house" in Zion, The "where's my pu-" sounded like an Eddie Murphy line.

-There were TOO MANY SPEECHES

Every copy should be recalled and destroyed, the source code should be security wiped and the designers and developers should be ritualisticly cleansed. They should also be reassigned to sewer cleaning duties for the rest of thier lives.

man, tell us how you really feel..

But I will say that one thing I no longer do is place any hope of redemption in sequels, they usually end up sucking too.

Does anyone else see a problem with this. Unless this game is just a mod or expansion pack of Enter the Matrix, don't they only have a few months to make the game?

It definitaly lacked polish. But it has some fantastic moments.. like punching a guy in the stomach with your pistols, picking him up, and then unloading a clip on him. Or kicking a gun out of someones hands and firing it on him. Good stuff. The driving and sniping sucked hard though. Really, really hard.

I admit I still enjoyed the game more than I did the movie. I beat it as the chick before reclaiming the drive space. Shitty ending.

Hey if they really listen to the criticism and fix up the engine and other probs then I'll really be looking forward to the next sequels. Ohh and the (hopefully) new footage released with the next game will be good enough for me already

This made me laugh, a big belly laugh. This game.. it takes crap to new heights. Theres only one thing good I can say about it, the fighting was fun. For about 15 mins, then I noticed how absolutely horrible it looked. The cut scenes (the animated ones, not the live action) were gross. The models would have looked good in 1998. Maybe. Horrible, horrible travesty of a game. Every copy should be recalled and destroyed, the source code should be security wiped and the designers and developers should be ritualisticly cleansed. They should also be reassigned to sewer cleaning duties for the rest of thier lives.

Ok, thats a little overboard... but not by much.

Well, Shiny has a good name and obviously their reputation took a nose dive when they had to rush this one out. I see a shitload of potential in this game. I think they did a lot of things right, but there are some very annoying things that really cripple it. If they actually take some time to finish the engine (and have someone look at the levels =/ ), I think a sequel could be pretty kickass.

it was fun, and the plot was definetaly a must for matrix fans (to fill in a couple of gaps from the film). But i can't help but feel that the game was rushed out the door.... some really bad clipping issues, texture/model issues, joke of a sniper view, and the last couple of levels?

This is going of the PC version.... It's fun i've played it through twice (once with each character) but i doubt i'll play it again unless i want to have a recap on the plot.

60-80% is about right for this game.

I thought that Enter the Matrix on the PC wasn't bad at all, I actually had a shitload of fun playing it. It was kind of short, but that seems to be the norm these days. I guess anything could seem awesome after playing a lot of Shadowbane though.

And yet, if a dev. is good enough, console ports can turn in to pretty damn fun PC games, it just doesn't happen often.

Case in point: GTA Vice City. A PS2 port, of all things, that happens to be the most fun I've had with a game in a year. Go figure.

Von Helmut,

You are correct. This is why you will hear PC game developers say that they will only be doing Xbox ports. It's much less work for them to do so, and cost effective.

Edit: I think Valve is going to do this with HL2 as a matter of fact. Seems like I read somewhere that there will be an Xbox port only. Maybe that was DOOM3, or both games.

Although, in the case of the game, I'm feeling more and more convinced that *most* any game developed simultaneously for console and PC can not succeed due to the differences in input and output devices (KB-mouse vs. controller and high-res monitor vs. TV).

Splinter Cell rules on the PC and I'm told it rules on the XBOX, being as it was my friends who have an XBOX that convinced me to pick it up for my PC.

So I guess it can be done.

Mind you, the XBOX is just a weird PC, so it probably wasn't too hard to port.

Another Matrix game, once again made by Shiny.

Hey Shiny, try to at least FINISH the PC version before you release it this time.
Then again, why bother, right? It sold over a million copies...

I just finished the pc version and had so much fun I can't stand it. However, I own no consoles so the gameplay was fairly new to me.

I suggest buying it. It runs great, looks great, and is a lot of fun, especially if you are a Matrix fan. I honestly do not see what everyone's problem is with this game!

Is this your first computer game? It runs like shit, it looks like shit, the level design is horrible, the 3rd person camera is the biggest POS I've ever seen, it's bug riddled, and it screams console port. If you liked this POS, try Heretic 2, which is 5 or 6 years old, and still has a way better 3rd person camera. Or try Max Paine or Jedi Knight 2 if you like the slo-mo effect. Then you'll know what "good" is. Then go back and play the Matrix and see if you still love it.

Well, it must REALLY like your machine then...performance on my machine was absolute ca-ca...and I've got a gig and a half of ram and 1.7 gig processor.

I suggest NOT buying it, or at least look over a number of reviews first...
