Out of the Blue

Argh -- I hate running so behind! Sorry about the late start. :(

So I'm glancing through the owners manual of our car. Does it scare you as much as me that under their advice on how to get the best possible gas mileage they suggest not driving with your foot resting on the brake pedal? Who are instructions like that for anyway?

Yeah, riding the clutch is called "free-wheeling" over here in the states. I know that it's illegal to do (I do it all the time down hills, saves on gas), but how could they catch you? I mean, if a cop is in his cruiser and tries to listen if your engine is idling or not, how the crap can he tell??

Oh, that Maureen!

The thing I quoted was actually from Dogma, I don't know if you've seen it. They have to road trip somewhere and Jay demands he drives, with the quoted results.

Maureen = character in early bbc reality tv show "Driving School" http://www.hullp.demon.co.uk/SacredHeart/thought/July6th97TDS.htm has some relevant details - though the fact it was 6 years ago scares me.

a bunch of insider subscribing guys have completely taken over the VE3D boards, and removed the identity that VE3D once had. oh well.

let's just hope that a bunch of ex-ve3d guys don't come here and completely take over this board and remove its identity.

#58:

shack has WAY too many visitors. i mean, you'll usually see at least 4000 posts on the first post of the day, upwards of 500 on each news post. you cant have your voice heard. here, at least theres some sort of identity among the posters. VE3D imo was the best in terms of its community, but thanks to greed (oh whoops, i mean, thanks to VE3D "hanging on a thread"), VE3D has turned into IGN. forget that. they can take their giant weed advertising you see before you get into VE3D and shove it up their bank accounts. sideways.

Still scratching my head over that whole fredster 1.0 meets fredster 2.0 incident a few months ago.

Yep, lol, I'm eagerly looking forward to the new and improved Fredster 3.0 with improved attitude and RhymeTime *TM* software suite!

I miss Fredsters poetry....

Yeah, when he was on, he was ON. And when he wasn't, he was getting muted!

Still scratching my head over that whole fredster 1.0 meets fredster 2.0 incident a few months ago. I'm beginning to think it was all just a big joke on someones part.

Oh, and we need a Blue's News Glossary for any new readers. That way when fredster, HtWD, "rated CP", Frans, and so on get mentioned, it'll all make sense.

Somehow they managed to push the seized engine through warranty claims. I don't know how.

A whole lot of lying. I've had a few service managers do that.

Pretty funny riding 1st up to 65 mph in a civic. It must have screamed bloody murder before locking up.

That thing must have done a lot of buckin' and jerkin' till it blew!

Welcome to all the new folks, I think you'll like it here. For the most part, it's a pretty nice crowd here.

I'll second that.

I never visited the site you are abandoning...what happened?

Why would you guys pick Blue's over the Shack? Just curious.

Don't know if Blue has added the following to the account sign up page or not but I'll say it anyway:

Play nice. Personal attacks will get your post deleted.

As a long time auto technician(27 years), I don't mind it if people drive with their foot on the brake or clutch pedal, it keeps me busy. Although I do tell them if they keep their feet off the pedals it will be better for their wallet.:)

My car cuts out at about 30mph in first gear, or 60 in 2nd gear. Either of those is about equal to 6000 rpms, which the car doesn't seem to like!

And Von Helmet, the reason your car cuts out like that is because of the rev limiter built into the computer in your car.

I don't know if you knew that or not, just thought I'd tell you.

I never tried 0.3 but I don'r remember 0.35 having a file planet exclusive. I think you should just be happy that someone took the time out of their busy schedule to make a full blown battlefield mod that brings hours and hours of entertainment for free.

the whole fileplanet exclusive thing that they pulled off w/ version 0.3. i could care less though about what happened, but them even thinking about doing that is what makes them sellouts.
