quickie review. do the tutorial first.

overall it shows a lot of promise. Nothing groundbreaking but the environments are nice on the whole though the textures lean a bit on the dull side. If your rig can handle it, use AA, it makes a big difference. Squad command interface is very well thought out, its simple and effective. Some people may take issue with the amount of "bob" that the chracter has (its quite pronounced) but personally I like it. Most of the weapons have a decent feedback except for the sniper rifle which could use some beefing up sound-wise.

Other than the above there really isn't anything to complain about. It seems like Breed will be a very good single player game and I'll be looking foward to it.

What I'd really like to see now is a multiplayer demo because I beleive this is where the game will shine most.

Well it seems ok. Maybe I'm just really getting jaded with
these games...played it for 20 minutes and deleted it.
Its cool you can play different chars in your squad.
Otherwise nothing very impressive.

I'm disappointed, weapon sounds are weak, commander guy has a horrible voice, head bobing is way too much. Ladder climbing was not an enjoyable experience, enemies seem to die a second too late, it definitely takes away the satisfaction of killing them.

I like the hud and the enviroment is alright, could really use some texture work... but they really need to polish this a lot for me to be as excited as I was.

Yes I realize it's a beta, but I'm not holding out much hope given the constant delays.

Haven't tried it yet, still at work like many others. But hopefully the bob settings will be able to be reduced or removed altogether in the final product. I know that's one of the reasons I could never play MoH or BF1942 (can't remember which, maybe both) because the view bobbed around so much... Made me sick. Blegh.

But in any case, I'm still looking forward to playing this sometime this weekend!

I'll be the one to say it. It sucks.

Viewbobbing makes me feel nauseous, none of the weapons are satisfying, there's 101 pages of options for the control keys rather than a smaller number of common sense controls, killing the enemies isn't remotely satisying since they all die so easily, sniping beats everything else since you can take out all the heavy defences before you get remotely close and none of the art has the 'oh coooool' that halo had.

It lacks style, x-factor and a whole lot more. They'll need to do an incredible amount to make this game fun, and I don't see it happening.

Ok, was a tad below my expectations. Nice graphics, if a tad bland. Weapon feedback isn't too great, the chaingun should leave rather pronounced explosions or smoke or SOMETHING when you just shoot around, instead, you don't get anything unless you hit a vehicle directly. Same with the other weapons, really, the shotgun is especially unsatisfying. Also, twice I went to descend a ladder, and got stuck without hope. Also, where's a drivable vehicle? Did I miss something? I found tanks, but you couldn't drive them, just shoot the turret. Wasn't the big demo delay due to sticking a vehicle in?

Pluses:
-Good squad system, and pretty decent AI. First game where my AI teammates bag more targets than me
-Cool vehicle design, except for part of the ship being in the way of the chaingun, seemingly you could blow your own engine off
-I can see my own feet, though my weapon travels right through it
-Big-ass level, though you don't get to see much of it
-You can scale almost any cliff, it just goes slowly, I climbed up to the radar from next to the big gate instead of going through the coastal path
-Great music, I actually wish it persisted more through the level
-Bobbing and shaking while running
-Ability to lean left and right, though it needs to stick you out to the side like SOF2, instead of making you kinda just tilt

Bitch list:
-Weapon feedback sucks
-Enemies kinda just fall down dead, I really wish ragdoll bodies were in this, but at least the robots could blow up or burst into chunks or something
-Sniper would have to weigh about 30 lbs to fit into her costume. Also, I love how a "future" rifle has a range of 200 meters, when we have sniper rifles now with ranges over a kilometer or two.
-The drill sergeant/commander must be Canadian or something, he prounounces "HUD" as "hood" and "reboot" almost like "ribbit."
-short-ass demo, no vehicle, and the touted level going from space to earth seemlessly is in a cutscene, not actual gameplay
-40 minutes of unskippable pre-game company, game, developer, and publisher screens (well, ok, more like 30 seconds)
-Walking speed's a bit slow (I know it varies per character)

I still have high hopes, meatier guns would really improve the experience.

If you look at the very end of the island, on top of the hill you will find a fully usable tank
