mcsterls,

Nope, it has it's own IRQ. I swear, I'm gonna go get my old card back from my friend, this is annoying.

Halo,

I had a machine a few years ago that crashed with my GeForce card all the time. Check your IRQs, for some reasom mine was sharing the same IRQ for like four device. Once I resolved this problem, no more crashing. Ever.

Very much Age 2 meets Civ 3 flavor. I played the demo last night for 3 hours and liked it. Thumbs up!

I've got to say that I'm really enjoying the demo too (fp subscriber)... for all you technical types who get tired of the PC getting wonder victories or maybe want to try the Assassin Mode or other option in the demo then you may want to look at the file autostart.ini.

The game just gets better and better. You really have to use the market to get an edge, the battles are great.. I can't wait to get the proper edition because I hear the background music is great (demo doesnae have any). It adds quite a bit to the traditional mix while not anything ground breaking, it's just polish. It plays great, feels great and is fun. I'm definitely buying this one on day one. Just playing against the PC shows already what great promise it's MP will have.

I get pretty far then it crashes. =\
I think it's because of the Geforce fx 5800. No I didn't buy it when Nvidia was here in Vegas with comdex my friend entered a raffle and won it. He's letting me use it, but it seems to crash games a lot. Or it might be because the crap ram I got is going bad.

~Halo

EDIT Anybody have any crashes... I'm sure it's my ram or the card. or both combined, my old geforce never desktop-crashed before.

pathfinding in the game could be a LITTLE better.

I wish this demo was released last week when I was still in school.. now I'll have to wait all night and then some for it to download on this crap connection.

Hmm, now I only need to find a way to disable my ISP's disconnect-ever-4-hours-unless-cancelled thing.

I've been in a similar boat as LordSteev..

The team came from Firaxis, they know the background, and they did really well on the RTS part (;

it's a quality game, i'm eager to try multiplayer.

Oh, and the Conquer the World global situation is much closer to the old Civ boardgame's playstyle. it really is a cool blend (:

I've had a marketing gold for a week maybe. It's a very good game IMO. The solo "Conquer the World" mode is great fun, with a sort of Risk-like strategic interface to provide context for a series of RTS battles (different types, from combat-only to straight build 'n' fight). Haven't tried it multi (not my forte) but if you like the Age of Empires line and Civ this one is definitely worth a look. Very nice and slick. Nothing shocking but well-built.

I hope this demo gives me the "I have to buy this game" feeling.

Last one that did that was Splinter Cell.

Saw this on SA, BitTorrent links for game files: http://news.gametab.com/torrents.php

It works great as long as a few people are on it, the more people that download the better it goes.

Rise of Nations demo is already there, if the MS link is slow for you (it started off fast for me, but ended up dropping way down).

Been waiting for what Brian Reynolds would do next ever since Alpha Centauri, IMO one of the best games ever made. I'm on and downloading with no wait, this games going to be huge.

People say they copied Age of Wonders.

People are wrong.

If anything, this game leans on Civilization more than anything else, and I think thats a GOOD thing!

Rabid Fanboyism aside, I hope the demo lives up to my own self promoted hype, lol!
