Simon & Schuster Interactive sends word that EVE Online: The Second Genesis
has shipped to retail in North America, and that the game has gone live. Here's
the deal:
Simon & Schuster Interactive, the digital entertainment unit of Simon & Schuster Inc. announced today Crowd Control Productions' (CCP), highly anticipated massive multiplayer online game (MMOG) "EVE Online: The Second Genesis" has shipped to retail in North America and will be arriving at retailers over the next several days (Rated "T" by the ESRB; $49.95 estimated street with one month online time included).
This morning EVE became a living, breathing universe as the servers were turned on at 9 AM GMT. Gamers will be settling 'The New Eden' over the next few days as corporations, freelancers and many others begin their journey in this unique, open-ended universe.
Wow. Sounds about 10 times more exciting than Earth & Beyond.

I think the MMORPG glut has begun in earnest now: there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between them, and certainly not enough content for monthly fees.
