I didn't play it for very long and I had some performance problem on the PC I was using back then. When ever I would go in the bigger city, my framerate would get so low (read: <3fps) that I had to look at the ground and follow the road with a printed map to know where I had to go, so I missed out on a good part of the game (I tryed to avoid those city as much as I could). But for the little I played, good part of the world fell empty when you travelled alone.
It's still a great MMO. Intuitive from the start (something lacking in a lot of MMO, just look at EQ, I didn't even bother playing it for more then 20 minutes the way it was made. First time I finally got out of the builing where I started [wich was just some VERY ugly maze], I fell in water and couldn't figure out how to get out of it, so I died. I respawned in the middle of some kind of forest were every creature could easily kill me and kept killing me every time I respawned. Damn nice way to get consumer to pay by pissing them off from the start.)
Really, DAoC is the only MMO I would consider paying for, but with new one coming "soon", I can't get myself to buy an older game.
That, and at the price those damn game cost...
