Kreed Klip

The Burut Website now offers downloads of a new trailer showing off gameplay from Kreed, their upcoming first-person shooter. The video runs a bit over two-and-a-half minutes, providing footage of gameplay, special effects, and some cut-scenes. The Bink-format movie is available in higher and lower resolutions, and both files have been mirrored on 3D Gamers.

Afaik the leaked tech demo of Kreed is about 18 months old. So if #11 is referring to that then he's being a weapon.

For the record, that leaked demo was incredible to play thru back in its day. Even with holey floors, no AI, no impact detection, crap sound, no story and no goals - it was technologically the best FPS available.
As a small team of guys in Russia working on this title they've achieved a hell of a lot and the game promises a lot that we can't hope to see from an old tech demo and some in-game vids. Why not wait until we have an officially released, playable build before passing judgement?

Well, all I can say is we'll see. I'm hoping both games turn out to be good, but it's hard to tell until the game is released.. or at least a beta.

DoomIII will be good just because it has ID behind it. It takes the technology and uses it well. I *cough* have played the leaked test, and it's pretty impressive. It utilizes the shadows well, not just in a "LOOK WHAT WE CAN DO" way, but in an atmospheric one. Sure, it probably won't have the innovation of HL2, but it should still prove to be a good game in its own right. Kreed is a lot of "go here, shoot this generic monster" stuff going on apparently, whereas DOOM will be more of a scare-fest. Besides, we've barely seen any of the game, who knows? If DOOM turns out to be crap-fest, I'll come wax your car.

I'm really afraid we're gonna get a glut of crap games that think they're DoomIII because they've got the lights, but are really the same ol' tired FPS crap.

And you think Doom3 will be any better? It seems to have basically the same gameplay. I don't see vehicles in either, and the majority of screenshots from both are taken from indoor areas. Different monsters and weapons doesn't necessarily make it any better.

I havn't played the 'leaked' versions of either games, but how much can you actually judge that to the final version?

EDIT: re-worded

well, I have the DOOM III leakage on Disk, and as well played the leak of Kreed. And I am saddened to say this is one of the few games coming out of the Eastern Bloc that IMHO is gonna blow. Between the music and level design, it seems to me that this game is selling out, pandering to the common denominator kiddie quaker audience.
The music sure is telling as well. :0) And btw, who really gives a rats azz that there are areas of Kreed that look DOOM III-esque? You`d think by now Developers would grab some initiative and quit playing follow the leader, and strive for some originality.

"it seems to me that this game is selling out, pandering to the common denominator kiddie quaker audience"

When I think of Eastern Bloc Devs games that rock, I think Echelon Wind Warrior by Madia, the upcoming STALKER from GSC Games, Vietcong, BIS` Op Flashpoint.... But what I just saw in the Bink vid, irregardless of the Bink Vid quality, well I am sure someone will buy this.... but it won`t be me. lol

Hey, here's my idea for a game. Let's make a techno-industial shooter, that takes place in TEH FUTARE, in which you shoot beast things and cyborgs with your large guns. Oh, and let's use per-pixel lighting to spruce up the Q2-level graphics. When we release preview videos, let's do so in a self-contained format that runs at 5 fps and can't be fast forwarded or rewound.

Listen, I respect that these guys are Russian, which probably isn't a game development paradise, but really there's nothings special here. The only 'reed game I'm waiting for starts with a B. Sure, it's a Halo clone, but I don't see Halo on my PC anytime soon, and Breed's videos have been both impressive and high-quality. Sure, it may not have the fancy lights, but in the end, it's about the gameplay. Someone needs to make some games with the Gore2 engine, that thing was impressive looking, and it ran like glass. I'm really afraid we're gonna get a glut of crap games that think they're DoomIII because they've got the lights, but are really the same ol' tired FPS crap.

Yeah, that Bink video doesn't look good at all compared to some other vids and screenshots I've seen. Also, the answers from the Q&A's with the devs sounded good. I'll give this Russian company a chance before saying anything bad about the game.. especially since the beta hasn't even begun yet.

PS If Burut are reading this PLEASE put me on the beta!

The movie looked okay, but the tech didn't seem to look as good as it did a while back (the early stuff was more impressive imo). I'd really like to see this running in a much higher resolution (like 1024x768+) and not in Bink to get a better idea of the visuals.

Don't know whole heap about this game, but from the clips it seems your average sci-fi fare. I'll wait until I can either play it first hand or read some reviews before I make my mind up about it I think.

I've seen this running on Game Network (a TV channel) over here and I know how sucky Bink is. This clip really does not do the engine justice - I've seen the Doom III alpha and the Tech Demo of this first hand and there's not that much between them. True the monsters look a bit dodgy but as for the weapons are you trying to tell me Doom III will not have a machine gun or a grenade launcher.

How can you pass judgement on a game from this. Personaly I think this is one to watch as a good space shooter would be nice after Unreal II was a let down and Doom III is a Survival Horror not a true FPS (do you think iD'll give credit to Konami?)

I don't think it's all that bad, but I too am a bit disappointed. From all the effects shown in the movie, they seem to have a pretty decent engine on their hands, but the level design and character movement looks very amateurish. In addition they now seem to follow a Quake style which differs from the earliest screenshots shown almost 2 years ago, which looked a lot more original than this footage. I'll still keep an eye on that one, but here's more hoping for HL2 to make me a happy dude in Q3 this year.

Yep, though the engine looks cool, monsters are boring, weapons are unimaginative. A bit like Unreal2, I suppose.
