Out of the Blue

Argh -- I hate oversleeping! Oh well, at least there weren't any presents on the floor from the puppy, who offers the occasional scatological editorial about late starts on such occasions.

We certainly are in the heart of the pre-E3 period I recently referenced, where a heavier rush of announcements are forthcoming than at the actual show itself. According to some quick calculations, it will be just seven years before this gets so early that the annual rush of game announcements will actually start immediately after E3 ends, and the year following new game announcements will actually take place during the show again. Or maybe not.

That's an interesting story actually. I can't really decide what to make of it, as while I agree that the news in the USA (from what we get to see of it) has been as he described it "gung-ho patriotism". However, why shouldn't it be? We don't really have anything to be patriotic about anymore, except for a monarchy and this damn rain that's come back now.

Good find, freddie.

Everyone knows that Fox news has a right wing slant. People who don't understand this, think that there is a liberal media conspiracy against them. Either way, it's not hurting anything. Fox is great for conservative people who want a conservative spin. The had a very pro American slant, just as Al-Jazeera had a very pro Saddam slant. Fox is just one media outlet in a vast see of media. Much like a home town sports announcer, Fox presented the facts in an honest manner, but from their team's perspective.

I don't care about your news story Fred

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20030425/media_nm/iraq_media_bbc_dc_4

The posts of yours that get deleted are because of what a tool you've been, nothing else, so stop trying to politicize your muffling and just stay on topic, or learn to enjoy the taste of your muzzle.

I won't even address future attempts by you to pretend your posts are deleted for any reason other than that you are a moron who goes out of his way to ruin these forums for everyone.

I just realized that Fred's post had nothing to do with anyting in today's Out of The Blue. Feel free to delete my reply if you like. This is no place for that type of political BS. There are plenty of places to participate in political flame wars if that's what gets your goat.

What is Anzac day? I assume it has something to do with Australia. Is it the Australian independence day or something?

Anzac Day is a day to honor New Zealanders killed in war and to honour returned servicemen and women.
Australia also does something similar to this.

Close. I'll let an Australian explain it.

It's Anzac Day, 25th April. Anzac day in Australia is the most solemn National Day of the year. We don't celebrate victory or revolution or independence. We celebrate a tragic defeat in 1915 of the Australian New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs) by the Turks at Gallipoli in Turkey. At dawn this morning, all over Australia, old soldiers and other service people marched to War Memorials. To the sound of bugles playing 'The Last Post', marchers, families and friends reverently remembered the fallen in all the wars in which Australia has participated.

It's also the only day in Australia where it's legal to play a gambling game called 'two-up' which involves tossing two coins and betting on the results. I guess it was a popular passtime of the troops, back in the day.

Pop ups? Apr 25, 2003, 15:16

When closing BN's windows, I am occasionally getting a pop up. I do believe that it is from this site as, in addition to two firewalls and endlessly running AdAware, the pop-up has the same "Take a 5 minute survey" information as the main advertisement(s) on the site.

Off to watch FLCL 2,
Ray

Edit: Hmm...now the advertisments are coming up completely blank (white). Did Stephen already pounce?

Update: Okie dokie, now the advertisements are back to the usual 80s t-shirts (I want polo shirts, darn it!) and the stupid Real Cancun.
