MoH Allied Assault Breakthrough

EA Hits the Shores of North Africa with Medal of Honor Allied Assault Breakthrough (thanks Frans) is the press release announcing another expansion pack for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, EA's World War II combat game. The add-on is centered around the war's North African/Sicilian campaign, and is expected to be released this fall. Here's a bit more:
As U.S. Army Sergeant John Baker, players join the battle at Kasserine Pass in North Africa, race to capture Messina in Sicily, and finally repel the German army at the historic battle of Monte Battaglia in the heart of Italy. Armed with a new arsenal of weapons, players will fight alone and with squad mates as they rush to stop the Axis powers.

The multiplayer game has been enhanced with the addition of Liberation Mode. In this mode, defeated players must be rescued by surviving teammates to continue the fight. In addition, players can drive tanks, artillery spotters can call in artillery strikes, and minesweepers can defuse mines. Players can also choose from American, British, Italian, and German skins in all multiplayer modes.

I was going to write a long reply about how bad the support for MOHAA has become and how it's plagued with cheats and that EA have done nothing to fix this. Then I realised "WHY SHOULD THEY" I mean the game is fine it's just that people have hacked it, thats hardly EA's fault. I think we the community could do more to protect our games, someone somewhere knows who the hackers are, they are bound to brag about it:

" snivvle, snivvle...hey I just hacked a cool cheat into MOh, and it only took me a nano second because I am such a sad bastard...snivvle, snivvle"

I can honestly say that I would inflict GBH on anyone I found to be hacking games and this is costing me pleasure which I would have to extract from the said nerds face with my boot. So I appeal to you all to kick seven shades of excrement out of anyone that hacks games

Actually they shot and then hung Mussolini right before the end of the war (April 29, 1945 IIRC). No joke btw, they hung him up for abuse after he was shot and killed.

Italys problems in the war had more to do with a poor industrial base, substandard equipment and, especially, poor leadership than anything else. Fascist bootlicking politicians made poor generals.

Italian troops performed rather well -- under Erwin Rommel in North Africa and in East Africa under a pretty good Italian general (sorry can't remember the name just off hand). They also did fairly well on the Eastern Front against the Russians, but were *really* hampered by lack of decent cold weather gear and equipment issues.

Razorwynd is correct about the Italians not seeing the US as the enemy as well. Their traditional enemies were Austrians (German). When the US Army passed through Italy about 1/10 of them spent some time visiting relatives there btw.

actually dumbass.....the reason the italians didnt fight well is because the italian govt supported hitler but the ppl did not so the italians didnt try to fight as hard....the italians would have actually done well if they would have been fighting for their country to save it from something really bad such as how the russians fought...but they where allies with the u.s in the ww1 so they didnt really have alot against the u.s...AND the italians themselves hung musolini after the war

Well its official...
The WWII genre has been SATURATED beyond recognition. Its getting so that you can hardly tell one from the other. No offense to the developers here. They make the games the folks like EA tell them to. I'm just really disheartened by how easily these people jump on the "me too" bandwagon. "Hey! It sold a million copies! Quick lets capitalize on the popularity!"

When are publishers like EA gonna start asking those hard questions? Maybe never, because it takes balls and the willingness to take risks. Like when Steve Jobs threw the gauntlet down to John Scully in a defining moment for Apple's evolution. He challenged, "Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life or do you want to come with me and change the world?".

Well publishers? Do you want to be remembered for fostering and rewarding innovation or rehashing existing themes to sell more units? I think we need a REGIME change in the entertainment software publishing industry...

LOL, but that's not really fair Anon. I understand that they were really crack troops. At the first sign of danger they would crack!

I'm a sucker though, I'll probably pick it up to stay current with the multiplayer.

EA, you silly taskmaster, you need to slow it down a bit. Give your victims, er I mean customers, some time to appreciate each sting of the lash. It's too soon after Spearhead. You want *this* expansion to be appreciated for its *own* lack of merits.

EA withholds patches knowing they are badly needed and then includes them in an expansion pack, spearhead and MOHAA have had such poor support, EA u stink.

Wow three new single-player missions and a new multiplayer mode. All they need now is a load of bugs and a $34.99 price tag and they will have repeated Spearhead.
