Michael Moore is a political entertainer. That does *not* mean that he should never be taken seriously, but he is far from unbiased (and I think everyone knows that, no matter what camp you're with on this) and that means he is no journalist. Calling Bowling For Columbine a documentary is really stretching the definition of the word. But again, that doesn't mean it should be ignored or discarded as lies and propaganda. It just means you should watch it with a criticizing mindset, just as with any other media claiming to be telling the truth.
All that being said, I like Michael Moore. He's not likely to become a diplomat any time soon, but he has shown to me and a lot of other europeans (I'm from Sweden) that the stereotype of a gun-toting, right-wing, ultra-capitalist and highly religious american population is not true. His image of america is not the truth and nor is anyone elses, but he helps balance the picture. And thats what I appreciate about him.
