Well as I used to play Asheron's Call 1 I thought I'd give this a try. I really don't see what everybody is bitching about? This game is at least as fun as the first one. Of course I never had a character past level 17 so maybe it's the power levelers who are complaining. Other than a few improvements I'd say this was like the first game with much better graphics and loads of room for cool new updates down the road.

Of course I really shouldn't subscribe because I actually enjoy roaming the sprawling landmasses of the game. These games just eat up sooo much time.

I actually downloaded the file and installed, simply to see how the game ran on my upgraded system. I had played during beta and simply didn't find enough within the game to make me want to buy it. The sad part is that you can also go to http://www.microsoft.com/games/ac2/buy.asp and obtain a $30 rebate on the game, making it basically free, as places like Wal-Mart are selling the game for $29.95.

After playing for about 4 hours and hitting level 15 I've already hit a wall. Most of the quests really require that you have a group to complete, and with populations of only 300-400 per server its near impossible to find someone your level to group with. Definately too little too late.

For those wondering about the download? It's the full game minus the very high res texture pack. It even comes with all of the latest patches and content(hence the size).

Guess I'll be waiting for SWG, Horizon's or Dragon Empires to come out before I can get my MMORPG fix again.

Learning from playing AC1 for a couple of months I think what you are downloading is the engine (maybe the same thing as in the store..) , then after logging to the AC environment you download all patches/textures/game objects and thats it.

meaning: it doesn't matter if this is the full game or not, the system will get you up to date in any case

The game looked great but they ran into alot of problems like trying to keep the higher level players interested. Crafting was fun but what else was there? The skill trees kinda left you wanting more (skills), sure the idea of untraining in skills was great but untrail for what? So everyone can morph over time to be the same hybrid/class mixture?

This is grasping at straws attempt to try and get a larger player base.

I couldnt stand it, everything is just lame in the game, the environment is like tribes levels. I had zero fun playing it.
I'm gonna stick to planetside for a bit. Atleast that has some fun parts about it.

I think all MMORPG software should be free (or at most S&H). They are raking in $13 something a month whether or not you’re playing. I hesitate to try many of these games because I don’t want to give up $50-60 to try them. They might hook more people if they gave away the software. Call it Drug Pusher marketing.

However, in AC2’s case this is a sign that they’re desperate. I know the player base is shrinking. (I wish I could get my money back.)

i was thinking about that when i read about this last night.i think this IS the full game, then they make you go to the store and buy the game for the code,go home enter code...without even installing from your new cd. I could be wrong, thats the way i took it.ahh, who cares anyway,i just wanna play SWG already.

You figure since you're downloading a file bigger than a cd that it would be the full game as well... YIKES

They already gave their old customers a free month. No way in hell im going back to them. They first put out a awful game and then the playerbase they had they drove out with month after month of crap patches. They even flat out lied to us, "we are gonna buff the craft system." somehow turned into, "we are gonna lower all the damage and armor values of craftables." Also this having to wait a month for any fixes nomatter how minor sucks.

just like Anarchy Online did...

you can tell that an MMORPG has no customer base when they practically give it away for free
