Camelot in the House

The Dark Age of Camelot: Foundations Press Release (thanks Frans) announces "Mythic Entertainment, developer and publisher of Dark Age of Camelot, plans to release a free download-only expansion called Dark Age of Camelot: Foundations that adds player housing to the immensely popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game. The expansion enters closed beta testing this week and will be available for free via optional download to all subscribers in mid-June." The official website for the project has further details on all this.

Very lame. I loved DAoC, but I just shake my head at the housing thing. It was supposed to be in the original game, but was left out. No big deal. That was what, 1.5 years ago? Ok, so no housing. They came out and said it would be released in the expansion. Nope, wasn't there. Well, they were adding a lot of stuff, so it was very hard to do.

Here's where it started to bug me. They next came out and claimed that housing would be done in the middle of April. For those of you not in the MMORPG area, that's when Star Wars Galaxies was supposed to come out (2 days ago, in fact). Coincidence? Maybe. SWG has been pushed back, some are saying until June (I believe Amazon used to list it as June). What's this, housing in mid-June? Hmmm...

I don't know anyone who is actually expecting housing to get done in DAoC anymore.
