New LO-MAC Movie

This week's movie release is now available on the Lock On: Modern Air Combat Website. The 13.5 MB movie shows off the Tornado, the F-4E Phantom, and the Mirage 2000C, saying: "These are AI-only aircraft. This video also shows off some new effects that have been integrated into the game, self-casting shadows and engine-heat blur."

two months to scan a cockpit image, model a low poly instrument panel and animate a few dials? thats very low productivity. the yoda model used in star wars episode 2 didnt take that long to program.

and the 3-4 months of programming realistic flight envelopes sounds like someone is doing each one from the ground up. another waste of time when you can create a base model and adjust it according to the limitations of each aircrafts flight envelope.

...30 years for 46 aircraft. thats funny. with the flight simulator x-plane someone with the correct aerodynamic and technical information can create any aircraft in a matter of days.

Don't know about the avionics, but the flight modeling should be better than any of the Janes stuff, and that's what counts. ;-)

Yes, this game will fill a void left since Jane's Combat Simulations went down. It probably won't offer the same ultra-advanced avionics as Jane's sims had, but it doesn't look like there's even anything close to LO-MAC in the recent past or anytime soon.

Although it's not released yet,i'm just thankfully happy that i have a modern flight sim the standard of the IL-2 pedigree coming up for me to enjoy. Unless of course it turns out to be a total bomb, which is highly unlikely in my opinion. So let all us flight sim fans do a victory roll, and whiners and trolls need not apply.

Well, in this game you can fly A-10A, F15C, Couple variations of Su27 and Mig29, all with most realistic flight models. What more could you ask?

Luthier summed up "that little bit extra" pretty well.

Moreover, it seems to me that WR417H will have to only ever buy multi-player games. Any game with a single-player component will inevitably have AI-only features (which as we all know are completely unacceptable). Counter-Strike for the rest of your life, I guess...

Yup. A cockpit 3d model only takes a couple of months to build, research of all the avionics and other features a few more months, and programming of all the instruments and a realistic flight envelope only about 3-4 months.

With LOCK-ON's 46 AI only aircraft, that's only about 30 extra years of work, in addition to 4-5 years already spent on the 8 flyables.

It's about time we see this feature in games. Now I'd like to see IL-2 Sturmovik/Forgotten Battles implement it.

The engine exhaust distortion is a nice feature, but the obvious sharp edges look fake. Hopefully when the game is released they will have softened the edges of the exhaust plume.

I REALLY hate that in games, and I wont buy anything that states it has stuff thats AI only. IMHO it shows laziness and lack of motiviation to put that little bit extra in.

'friendly fire' is a standard feature in the US version.
