Out of the Blue

Thanks to Mark Allanson for dropping a line with a tip to help make the Blue's News headlines automatically announce their presence to RSS-enabled devices, so in addition to the visible link I added to the title bar to make them more apparent, there is further RSS magic performed when appropriate... but if you're reading this on your cell phone, you probably knew this already.

they are.. that 4th goal tonight was pure luck, he never even meant to shoot it and it lead to the flyers fucking up with the pulled goalie

I have yet to see any amazig or great CG; I judge CG by how less fake it looks.

There have been a few scenes where I only knew later that they had been "faked". On reviewing the scenes I could spot the CG, but they were at least good enough to fool me while I was into the movie. The only one I can remember off the top of my head was a scene in Contact where a helicopter was landing on a ship during a nasty storm.

Another scene that always amazed me were the shots of "Lt. Dan" in Forrest Gump where he was on the shrimp boat and missing his legs. I knew what and how they were doing it but I'll be damned if I could even spot a shimmer where his lower legs were blue screened out.

Oh yeah... someone recently told me that the kung-fu cow in Kung Pow wasn't a trained cow but was actually done with CG - amazing!

Of course I could be wrong... but really, what are the chances of that happening twice?

Philadelphia is a better team than the Leafs. It's a pretty exciting game right now (3-3 right now). Unfortunately I'm stuck at work listening to it on an internet radio station

That image is from a long running thread on the jediknightii.net forums.

This is the only forum I read consistently. I stick to the newsgroups otherwise.

What do the other people here think of the format and capabilities of the lucasforums (or others for that matter) versus the chatbear set up here? I'm looking for constructive points not 'X blows, Y rules' stuff.

I made a (polite) rant about the classic trilogy dvds during the survey!

That is why I asked. I would think it a good place to make such a rant.

Dan - I wish I could say I had some hope in the Flyers this year but based on their recent playoff performances I've given up on hockey this year. If they make it past the first round I'll pay attention.

What are your picks for the Stanley Cup play-offs that started tonight? I'm rooting for the Leafs to fall hard.. I'd like to see the Wings defend their title but we'll see.

Heh.

I get so annoyed with the site that I delete its e-mails outright; what makes them think that I would pay for even more abuse???

I wish that Lucas would just release the original movies on DVD, even if only as a "favor" to us. Besides, he could then release the "Special Editions" on DVD and, our being SW whores :o, make even more money.

Still waiting for the apology concerning the current trilogy,
Ray

That image is from a long running thread on the jediknightii.net forums. They are probably a 100 some images just like that one. The thread is called, If the movies played like JK2. Link: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43452&highlight=movies+played

Check your email.

Thank you Bronco! I appreciate it! The irony was that I was signed up at starwars.com (must have been my good twin, as I don't remember doing it), but my account was set to have no email notifications.

Ray, you're not missing much. It hints that they want to make a special subscription-based part of starwars.com, and they play 20 questions with you about what you would pay and what kind of content you'd want.

I just want my damn classic trilogy dvds...

It is true that more "normal" people do not notice the CG as much, although the unwashed heathens are getting better at spotting it. With regards to myself, I have yet to see any amazig or great CG; I judge CG by how less fake it looks.

I think that some of the best CG is that which has been used for the smalles things rather than some over-the-top action piece.

Avoiding my usual "I love Finaly Fantasy" rant :o,
Ray
