IG3 = Galaxy Andromeda

CDV Software announces a name change for Mithis' upcoming real-time strategy game formerly known as Imperium Galactica 3. The game will be published under the new title Galaxy Andromeda (there are some new screenshots on the new website). Here's the rationale:
"While Galaxy Andromeda was originally conceived as the third game in the Imperium Galactica series, it has developed now to the point where we are confident of releasing it as a fully-fledged game in its own right," says Terry Malham, president, CDV Software Entertainment UK. "We have high hopes for this game and expect that, with its new title, it will go on to establish a whole new franchise of its own."

I wonder if there is now any relation between the game and the series.
No.

Personally, though, I think this new name is unimaginably awful. "IG3" has a nice ring to it, and "Imperium Galactica" is quite a cool name. "Galaxy Andromeda" just brings to mind crappy budget sci-fi (like, um, Andromeda), which from what I've seen of IG3, really doesn't suit it.

So, forgive me if I just ignore their stupid decision and continue calling it IG3

He he, I was just pulling the guy's legs. One of my ex's was an Irish bitchy lass. I do know that in England the school subject for 'The American Revolutionary War' is called, 'How Not To Colonize A Continent.'

I was very impressed with the graphical capability of the engine, via the demo. the Game itself was pretty damn tough and most of the ships seem to control themselves.

I'm not sure if I would purchase the full game, seeing as the previously released demo had quite limited gameplay. more content to screw around with would be nice.

I played IG2 - excellent game, although buggy. I'm not really looking forwards to this. IG2 was an empire building game but this seems to be a space combat game. Not my thing.

Ehh, I never played the prior games so I find it no big deal. I played the demo last year and it was a very pretty game. I'm hoping this new game goes well.
