Ships Ahoy: DF: Black Hawk Down

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down hits the streets is the press release announcing that the latest installment in the Delta Force series has touched down in retail. More information is available on the game's official website, and here's a bit from the release on the game:
Set in Somalia in 1993, Delta Force - Black Hawk Down is based upon and around the Operation Restore Hope and Task Force Ranger campaigns immortalized in the book and movie of the same name. The game follows members of the elite Delta Force, US Army Rangers and 10th Mountain Division as they participate in a number of daring raids against the oppressive Somali warlords in and around Mogadishu.

Delta Force - Black Hawk Down recreates the intense atmosphere of a war-torn country. From tours of duty in the vast Somali countryside, where snipers could lurk on top of any hill - to the maze like streets of Mogadishu, where militia and civilians blend seamlessly the task of discerning enemy from refugee is vital, as a wrong decision could cost you your mission.... or your life.

To ensure accuracy, NovaLogic spent months researching the history of the conflict, and worked extensively with former Special Forces Operatives, including two who served in Somalia in 1993.

...by the MP demo; it was a bit rough, but different than a lot of other titles that I was playing at the time. However, the SP demo destroyed any chance of my purchasing this title; it just...had way too many broken or incredibly rough aspects to it. I will stick with IGI 2 and Raven Shield for all of my terrorist head-shooting.

Telling my RS peeps to hold while I go clear out the level :),

Demo is great, but the rest of the game is mediocre by comparison.

Sounds like the bank robbery/ helicopter level in SIN.

This one didn't look too bad. I tried the demo and changed my mind. The single player game is boring and the AI is complete ass. Multiplayer was fun but laggy, even on cable. Oh well...

yes, that IS interesting...maybe what they meant to write was: "it only shows you the best pieces of the whole"

That's been my experience in a lot of games. Demo is great, but the rest of the game is mediocre by comparison.

I hope this isn't true w/ this one, as I've enjoyed the demo.

i quit trusting demo's a LONG time ago... they are tweaked to show you things the game does not do.

Care to cite any examples? I've played a lot of demos, and I don't think I've ever encountered a demo that had more features than the actual game.

You'd figure after all these years NovaLogic would get it right ... atleast once. Chumped three times on their other DF titles, so no spank you. I'll wait until I see it laying around for $5.

You know selling dlc before you patch the client doesn't impress upon me the need to support your shit. -massdev

I downloaded the warez version last week and it lasted 2 days on my harddrive. Sometimes you just _have_ to TBYB.

try before you buy

SP = Worst AI ever

MP = worst maps and people just sitting around spawn killing as snipers. Oh yeah, "great" MP.
