Second BF1942 Add-on?

A post from last week on Gameplanet (thanks the Junkyard) says that the latest New Zealand release schedule from Electronic Arts lists a new add-on called Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons scheduled to ship in September of this year. No further details are provided other than a listed $49.95 MSRP (presumably in N.Z. currency, which would be about $28.00 in the U.S.).

How much you wanna bet that it'll be a couple levels with the SDK?

God forbid they release it for free. (yes I'm aware of the free map that came out the other day..)

I think they'll milk BF42 for as much as they can, just like Valve is doing with Half-life...

This has been semi-known ever since EA decided to take a little ownership in Digital Illusions, but here's to having something to officially look forward to. The more the merrier.

I would hope they would release a bit more free material(maps & such)since I have already forked out $50 & $30 for an add-on with so few maps. I realized they(EA Games & DICE)are a business and are attempting to make as much profit as possible. But releasing small add-ons that mostly contain a huge patch with a small number of new maps tends to piss-off the end user.

If this next add-on has just 6 maps and not much else I doubt I will pony up another $30(or whatever they decide to charge for it).

It looks like EA has found their new Sims. Yes, it won't be long now before Battlefield is buried in a plethora of low value, high cost expansions offering all the bells and whistles (not to mention bugs) that you never asked for... and yet, for some reason, most of you will still buy the crap.

If they could spit out another expansion every 4 months it would be like paying $5 a month for a mmog. Plus they'll continue to tweak the engine.

What other possible countries (from 1942) do we have left? I guess that could give us an idea how many addons we will get.

Yes, tweak the engine... I love the way they tweaked MoH in Spearhead. Faster players destroyed the tactical aspect of the game... and grenades, grenade launchers and mortars! Hey, who doesn't love spam--am I right? Having shit blow up all over the place does WONDERS for tactical gameplay! Dude, I don't even trust EA to change a tire... let alone a game I enjoy(ed) playing.

Realism can bite me. In any case, NO, war doesn't have the same sort of spam that you see in games. In real life, for example, people are generally reluctant to blow themselves up along with four of their closest friends. So don't even start with 'realism' crap. You want realism, go enlist... you probably won't be in time for *this* war, but I'm sure there'll be another one real soon.

If they address the bugs and other problems with the game and then make the add-on a lot more then just six maps and a patch... well then I may just buy it.

They could always leave the WWII theme and go for WWI, Vietnam, Korea, Panama, the South American drug wars, or even The Gulf War.

I think that would be an even better move then to cover more of WWII. But again I think they need to fix some of the basic issues first. For the most part the game play is good(balanced) but when you pump a guy full of rounds at close range and he just laughs it off... well that is no good for the game play. And the bot AI still needs some work. Like why the hell they man enemy guns pointed in the wrong direction. I could go on but I need to get a few "Honey Do" things done so I can get back to Raven Shield....

many months ago when the first addon came out, i told you that EA would not release the level editor so that they could sell their own levels. of course, i was branded a troll and a deviant for daring to insult ea or dice. lo and behold i was right as usual. where is the credit. all you children can do is throw insults.
