Second BF1942 Add-on?

A post from last week on Gameplanet (thanks the Junkyard) says that the latest New Zealand release schedule from Electronic Arts lists a new add-on called Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons scheduled to ship in September of this year. No further details are provided other than a listed $49.95 MSRP (presumably in N.Z. currency, which would be about $28.00 in the U.S.).

the bottom line is what its all about, of course.

EA tried to get their market share on the MMO arena without enough due diligence. E&B and Sims Online have cost those fuckers some real money it would seem. And if i were them ild be milkin' every last penny out of any games i had in my arsenal that DID sell. But hey its only money, you were all born to waste it. But i wouldnt doubt if this is the last "online" game to charge a purchase price and not follow through with a monthly fee. Even if it does have a playable single player element.

Holy shit... you can't possibly be that fucking dumb.

Did you receive a contract from EA for a level editor? Did you sign anything? Where EXACTLY is the legal statement made by EA saying that they "promise" to deliver anything at all? How many times have your local politicians (who run your city, your police, your fire department and your tax services, etc.) "PROMISED" you something, but never delivered? How many times have they been taken to court for fraud, hmmm?

Ever work for a union, fredrickson? Did you know that a union representative can stand out in front of a business that they are trying to unionize and can make verbal and even PRINTED "promises" all day long, but they are not LEGALLY required to deliver a single one of those promises after the shop becomes union. Did you know that?

That's just ONE example too. There are so many more that you won't live long enough to learn about all of them.

Did you read the fine print that says they (EA) reserve the right to change anything they want, any time they want, and are not even required to notify you of those changes if they choose not to?

No. You didn't. In fact, it's probably a miracle if you even decipher the fucking instruction manual for the game. And what is this rediculous bullshit about the reason "most of us" bought the game in the first place was because of the level editor?? Put the crack pipe down... your mom already regrets not getting the abortion as it is. Oh, wait... how silly of me. You mean you got in touch with every person that bought the game and asked them, right? Then you took the data and were able to determine that "most of us" bought the game for the level editor. Wow. That's amazing.

Get your head out of your ass, fredrickson. EA has committed no crime of any kind. If anything, it should be a crime to allow someone of your monumental stupidity to exist on this planet.

Sorry fredrickson, most gamers dont buy games to design and build levels, contrary to what you said. Level design is alot of hard work. Some of us just want to have fun.

"Now that you've bought BF1942, the release of expansions is the ONLY way that EA and DICE can continue to make money from their hard work."

They GOT paid for their "hard work" when I purchased BF1942 in the first place. They can 'continue' to get paid for that hard work by patching any issues with the game and releasing an editor so that the community grows with people and content - making the game more attractive to prospective buyers. (See Half Life which still sells for $49 Canadian and moves several copies per week from the local EB)

Since before I bought the game I read an interview with them stating the editor would be on the CD I think they HAVE defrauded the community. *flamers please notice I wrote "I think". This is MY oppinion, get your own if you don't like mine but keep your flames to yourself.

THEY PROMISED A LEVEL EDITOR. THAT IS WHY MOST OF US BOUGHT THE GAME. NOW THAT OUR MONEY IS GONE, THEY CHANGE UP ON US AND DO NOT RELEASE THE LEVEL EDITOR. THIS IS FRAUD. THIS IS ILLEGAL.

Id just like to point out that RTR was a lot more than just 6 maps (very good maps btw), it included 4(?) new tanks, AT guns, two new planes, 2 new armies which means news skins, weapon models and new voice commands etc for both sides. I dont see a fan effort being able to do this so fast and you dont have to buy it.

The map editor will be out Im sure, level editors have been available for most games for a long time and havent hurt their expansion pack sales.

Finally I respect Digital Extremes although I though UTII and UII were poor, but they are not the rule, they are more of an exception, not the rule.

It's a fairly simple problem. EA gets money for you BUYING BF1942 and it gets money for you buying the expansions BUT it doesn't get money for you PLAYING BF1942 or the expansions OR any free/homebrew maps.

Therefore it is directly AGAINST the interests of EA to produce a level editor and free map packs. After all, the developers assigned to work on these projects aren't working for free, are they?

Now that you've bought BF1942, the release of expansions is the ONLY way that EA and DICE can continue to make money from their hard work.

Wow, EA is churning out another Expansion pack?

Its funny, because the amount of content they have released as payed expansion packs are released FOR FREE by good developers like Digital Extremes [for unreal tournament, ut2k3 etc] as map packs.

DICE is good. EA is the evil conglomerate publisher.

Sorry I had to re-post the above drivel, it just helps to define a point.
It's a damn shame EA is commiting such evil practice's all at the price of a game and it's sad to see if they are prosecuted on such a simple issue. Granted, only 1% of gamers seem to be protesting the issue, and we all know how silly protestors are these days, but law's are law's and we are the USA so while we are throughing the book at EA for making us buy a $20 game lets toss in G.W.Bush and Congress for telling us this war would be swift and powerful and Hussein would be ousted by now.
GOD BLESS AMERICAN and the 1st, 5th and whatever else ammendment gives us all the right to BITCH !

LOL, best multiplayer game of the year and your tooting your horn over flaws in the single player! Rather than pray for some miracle of a flawless single player experience with fantactic ai, jump on the bandwagon, ditch your weak internet (one would have to assume this) and play against some RI (real intellegence).

The single player.....ROFLOL!!! Don't hold your breath.
