Chat-O-Rama - New EVE Date

Simon & Schuster Interactive sends along an updated release date for EVE Online: The Second Genesis, saying the science fiction MMORPG is now expected to ship to stores in North America and Europe on May 6. The updated release date will be among the topics of their developer chat, scheduled today for 6:00 PM EST on IRC servers gate.shadowworld.net or IRC.shadowworld.net in the channel #evegate. Finishing off this round of EVE news, is word they are still accepting beta testers for the game, and sign-ups are being taken here. In other chat-related news, there's an A Tale in the Desert House of Commons chat planned this evening at 7:30 PM EST in #ATITDHOC on Stratics irc.stratics.com, port 6667. In a final bit of chat-o-rama, there's an Anarchy Online Shadowlands Q&A on Gamer's Hell conducted during a chat with the developers discussing beta testing of the upcoming AO expansion.

Maybe they were screening applicants for their sunny disposition and unflinching optimism

i applied for this fuckin beta back in like november. still nothing. and now that they've backed it up again theres no hope for a real deal trade wars 3d MMO type game till summer time. and just like every other pc title released this year, they'll put all kinds of extra time into it just to make it suck that much more. i so cannot wait for the next big disappointment.

WYSI, got any tips?

Tried asking around in the beta forums on their website?

Oh, and I applied for the beta a few days ago. Hopefully I'll get accepted. I kind of enjoy trying to break things like this It looks like an amazing game, as long as it doesn't run into problems with bugginess or hacks. Beta should give me a chance to help make sure it doesn't. I'm not into MMORPGs, but I'm going to try this one.

from what ive heard..

when released you can join a corporation which are listed when you are docked in a station but they are currently unavailable in the beta it seems. these corporations i assume will then send you on missions.

at the moment im also just collection minerals from the asteroids plus occasionally getting blown up byt the Angel ship.

ps. nice menus eh in the game! a future OS maybe

as for any other thing im not sure of as ive only had it 2 days now. and all i can figure out is to sell the minerals at the markets.

not sure what else to do in the beta

Yeah, I got accepted too (haha MxxCon!). It is certainly looking very impressive, and I don't just mean graphically. It's very professionally presented and it looks astonishing. The space is beleivable, although somewhat empty (perhaps that's why it is beleivable). The bases look a bit off but I think that's largely down to a z-buffering bug.

The problem I have with it (apart from the many error messages etc - it is a beta) is I just don't know what I should be doing to make a living. I know how to mine (from the tutorial) and my cargo bay is pretty full of odds and ends. Now what? The bases have missions but they are all bounty hunting ones and I'm not skilled enough to go after anyone. I don't know how to sell, I don't know how to manufacture etc. I'd really like to find a good resource on how to play the game, as the manual and such only tell me how to use the features.

WYSI, got any tips?

Cheers,

im currently Beta testing this game (phase 6) was accpeted last week

it still needs some ironing out and to finish teething. lots of errors appearing. but they are very quick at fixing them when they are reported. its gonna ROCK when its released.
