Out of the Blue

Well the tons of snow in these parts are melting away... in a classic episode that warns to be careful of what you wish for, a good deal of it is now in our basement. Seems we have a bit more porosity in the walls down there than we should, but we also think this is partly due to water from the roof, as it would also seem that there are a couple of areas of the house that need more in the way of rain gutters. Luckily there is enough time between now and when the weather warms a bit that I can talk myself out of trying to tackle this project myself.

Nice, I registered and put my entire collection of DVDs online in a matter of 5 minutes.

Should give you an idea of the pathetic size of my collection

Nice site, snide. I read some of the reviews, not bad, but the writing could use a lot of cleaning up. I'll be checking back on this one, though.

What a slow day it is today...

It was slow wasn't it.

3.5 hours to get into the city (41 miles).

Wait 20 minutes for appointment to begin.

40 minute appointment.

3.5 hours to get back out of the city.

I think I could have walked there faster.

I did get to see the U-Penn campus for the first time though....looks like a nice place to go to school.

dvd profiler does not track cds. it's a good program though, just wanted something that was completely online and that could hold all my stuff. plus, we're brand new, so we'll be adding features as we grow.

For keeping track of DVD's, I use DVD Profiler:

http://www.dvdprofiler.com/dvdpro/index.html

It connects to an online database to get details and cover scans, but it works pretty well.

Don't know about tracking CD's.

I always thought the Timesplitters guy looked like the old Blues Logo.

Hmm...now that you mention it, I think you're onto something.

Oh, and Weas: Could you post the lyrics to Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie? Thanks!

Crest fallen sidekick in an old cafe
never slept with a dream before he had to go away
there's a bell in the tower
Uncle Ray bought a round
don't worry about the army
in the cold cold ground
now don't be a cry baby
when there's wood in the shed
there's a bird in the chimmney
and a stone in my bed
when the road's washed out
they pass the bottle around
and wait in the arms
of the cold cold ground
cold cold ground
there's a ribbon in the willow
and a tire swing rope
and a briar patch of berries
takin over the slope
the cat'll sleep in the mailbox
and we'll never go to town
til we bury every dream in
the cold cold ground
cold cold ground
gimme a Winchester rifle and a whole box of shells
blow the roof off the goat barn
let it roll down the hill
the piano is firewood
times square is a dream
I find we'll lay down together in the cold cold ground
cold cold ground
cold cold ground
call the cops on the Breedloves
bring a bible and a rope
and a whole box of rebel
and a bar of soap
make a pile of trunk tires
and burn 'em all down
bring a dollar with you baby
in the cold cold ground
cold cold ground
take a weathervane rooster
throw rocks at his head
stop talking to the neighbors
til we all go dead
beware of my temper
and the dog that I've found
break all the windows in the
cold cold ground
cold cold ground

Not a bad looking site snide...

On a related note, does anyone know of an app I could use (offline) to track my collection of cds and dvds? I have cds from all over the world, and the collection is getting big enough that's it's a bit hard to remember what I do and don't have. I'm looking for something that would list tracks, optional artwork, where the cd was from, etc.

Thanks for any info!

Oh, and the Time Splitters logo is cool...love that one on the cube!

Man, donate those out. Are you ever going to play them again?

No more so than somebody might play with all his or her old baseball cards. It's a collection, and I enjoy looking back at them. And every once in a while I do get the desire to fire up an old DOS 6 box I keep around for just this and play a particular favorite. It's kind of my version of a MAME box... it's full of nostalgic goodness.

Blue-

$1100 for seamless, capped rain gutters all around a 2200 sq ft center hall colonial with 2 levels....

Worth it. Major pain in the ass to do it yourself.
