Tony: Alliance was indeed shelved. Original release date was supposed to be sometime in 1999. I don't think we'll see it any time soon, as I've been in touch over the years with the X-COM programmers on various teams, and am still in touch with Julian Gollop (creator of X-COM)... who incidentally had nothing to do with Alliance
Nighthawk: Instead of getting tired about it, why not bug Sid Meier and Firaxis at the Firaxis website (www.firaxis.com) as they now own the rights to X-COM as well as a load of old MicroProse titles. That might actually achieve something. Not meaning to sound nasty, but if everyone got tired just sitting around waiting, then nothing would ever get done.
Vincent: Be realistic. The original game, before it became UFO:Aftermath was "The Dreamland Chronicles: Freedom Ridge" which Julian Gollop and Mythos Games started on ages ago.
Since then, it's been COMPLETELY redesigned and re-coded, and even re-titled - in effect it's a whole new game.
Your average gme takes two years to complete. These guys started in September 2001. They're on schedule for a Quarter 3 release this year.
That's not bad going.
For a fix in the meantime why don't you head on over to one of my sites?
